Wedding Dress Neckline Alterations

o1234, on November 30, 2020 at 6:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Hi! Posting this because I am looking for some advice/brainstorming from anybody that has a better creative side than me and knows something about alterations! I bought my dress 6 months ago, and I am having second thoughts on it. I think the biggest thing that's getting me is the top of my dress looks really thick/blocky to me. I'm wondering if anybody has any ideas of how I could alter the neckline with my dress? I am thinking maybe a deeper V with fabric in the middle like the other dress I posted a picture of. I also would be happier with skinnier straps, just not sure how much of that can be done. Open to other ideas!

That's something to discuss with your seamstress because you would be dramatically altering the structure and only they tell you what is doable.

That's kind of what I was curious about I guess, just if anybody had any experience in that field and could give their input. I'm not going to see my seamstress for about 6 months and just was curious if I could get some thoughts before then. I know my seamstress will have the final say though!

I have a similar neckline as the dress in the lower picture. I even think it is too low and looking for an interesting appliqué to cover my cleavage. I honestly think your dress neckline looks good as is.

You look stunning 😍 Id def speak with your seamstress to see what they’d suggest. When you go for alterations maybe try going with your hair done and wearing jewelry you plan on wearing to get a better idea of how you’ll look day of?

I think that it's cute but I do like the look in the second picture better!

You look absolutely beautiful in that dress! I don’t see what you mean about it being thick/blocky. It shows off your figure perfectly. However, this is a definite conversation you’ll have with your seamstress. I’d recommend taking a breath- there’s a reason you loved your dress when you 1st tried it on.

I think your dress looks gorgeous on you! I definitely don't think you look blocky. Have you taken it to a seamstress yet? She/he might be able to offer some ideas to fix what you don't like.
