Wedding dress preservation

Nemo, on May 29, 2019 at 11:23 AM Posted in Married Life 1 6

I got married last August and my dress is still sitting in my closet. Has anyone had their dress preserved? Do you mind sharing the cost and what company you used? My dress is a Stella York, if that matters.

I had mine preserved in March after getting married in October. If you can, ask the salon where you purchased your dress who they recommend. The bridal shop I used had a company they used exclusively and because we bought my dress there, we got a discount. If your salon doesn't have one specific company they use, they should be fairly familiar with some of the options in your area - I'm sure they get asked that a lot!

Price wise, preserving my dress, garter, veil, hanger and hairpieces was about $250 including having it shipped to my home when it was completed.

Exactly what Melissa said. I went with the company my bridal shop recommended.

I used happily ever gown preservation. It is the same company that the knot uses for dress cleaning and preservation, but it a better price if you go through them directly. They send a kit for you to ship your dress, veil, and shoes in. They take pictures of the progress and send it back to you all clean and preserved. They did a great job on my dress and were really easy to use.

Daughter searched online/Yelp for dry cleaners that do wedding dress cleaning/preservation. Based on reviews she started calling around. She found a cleaner she felt good about that charged her $150 (a fairly elaborate lace and tulle a-line ballgown with beaded straps & belt).

I had my gown preserved about a month after we got married in September. I used a service through David's Bridal and things turned out just fine. I didn't want anything fancy, I just wanted it cleaned and protected for storage. I got a nice box with a clear window to see in, and it's wrapped in plastic wrap. I think the whole thing (a basic package) cost me less than $100.
