Wedding dress refund??

Victoria, on April 1, 2023 at 11:06 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Has anyone successfully gotten a refund on their deposit for a wedding dress placed at a bridal salon?

I am 5 weeks away from my wedding and my dress still has not arrived despite an estimated arrival date of mid to end of March. I ordered the dress back in December 2022 (which I know is already cutting it close), but the bridal stylist assured me it would come end of March at the latest and even waived the rush fee for the order.
I have called the store twice to ask for a status update as well as a tracking number, but all the information I received was that my order has passed quality check and is in the shipping queue. They assured me they will contact me as soon as my dress arrives, but at this point, I will be left scrambling to get any alterations done.
I have requested a refund from the store owner, but I know most bridal salons have non-refundable policies. Can I dispute this with my credit card company as the store gave me false information about the arrival time of the dress?

Wow, I'm sorry that's happening. I don't know the answer to your question, but I'd be leaving reviews about that.

It is only April 1, is there any way to contact the manufacturer directly?

It's weird that the bridal salon is so unhelpful.

Won't the salon rush your alterations? Does it pay to wait on asking for your deposit back to see if they come through? What is your alternative at this point?

The thing is, this salon is notorious for having a horrible and overpriced alterations department. I was planning on having my alterations done elsewhere, but I’m running out of time. My alternative at this point would be to find a sample dress asap to get alterations started immediately. Smiley sad

That’s a great idea! Hopefully I can find the contact info for the manufacturer to ask if they know anything or can give me more specific details.

If you can, I would also ask when they received the order from the bridal salon.

Unless you have it in writing that it will arrive by a certain date, then you most likely will not get a refund. The arrival dates are just estimates and that is what they will tell you. While it sucks, they are giving you all the information that they have. Once something is being shipped they also don't know anything until a tracking number or shipping confirmation is given.

I would reach out to your seamstress and just keep them updated so when it comes in the seamstress is ready!

    Hey Victoria,

I am having the same issue with a bridal store in north vancouver. What did you end up doing? For context I ordered my dress in September and it hasn’t arrived yet. It is now June, I’m thinking I’ll need a backup plan but wondering if I can even get my deposit back because 9 months for a wedding dress delivery is outrageous, considering I’ll only have one month to do fitting/alterations… they are also known for having a terrible in house seamstress.
