Wedding dress regret

Lisa, on October 10, 2022 at 12:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

Since childhood I dreamed of a large ballroom dress, very extravagent and elegant. When I started looking at wedding dresses I noticed that I fell in love with mermaid dresses. I tried a few ballroom dresses but I didn't think it suited me. I chose a mermaid dress that I am absolutely in love with. Still, it keeps playing in the back of my mind that I always wanted to get married in a ballroom dress and that dream won’t come true. My culture also plays a part in this. In Lebanese culture, it is common for women to get married in a ballroom dress because the weddings are big and extravagant. Sometimes I'm afraid I'll regret it, but I'm very happy with my dress. Do more people have this mixed feeling?

You could purchase a detachable ball gown skirt for your ceremony, then remove it for the reception. Best of both worlds!

You stated that you didn't think it suited you - there's a reason for that. You may have dreamed as a child that you'd have a big ballgown, but as a child you had no way of knowing what would look best on your adult body!

I wanted a big, voluminous, satin gown so badly. But in reality, I have wide hips and a large bust with a 26" waist. Which is great. Except when I don't wear fitted things, I look like a potato sack! I knew that In order to feel most comfortable, I would need to wear a slim fitted dress. that's not going back on yourself or your dreams, that's just knowing what works best for your body!

Wow you literally described my situation haha. I also have a hourglass figure and i felt like my whole curves were gone in a ballgown. Mermaid made me feel more comfortable and pretty. It’s good to know that more people have this 😊 thank you

You can add a hoop skirt under your dress to get some poof like a ball gown but still have the mermaid silhouette.
