Did anything make you tear your veil out about wedding dress shopping? Prices? Sizes? An insulting sales rep? White/ivory samples only? It took 8-10 stores to find The One and I found the whole thing more frustrating than fun.

1) None of the bridal shops carried any of the dresses I found online or in magazines

2) Sleeves weren't in when I was was shopping. Felt like few options for me

3) OMG, the price tag. I had a $1K+ dress budget but considering I've never owned a dress that was even $500 I was shocked most dresses didn't excite me yet were going to cost so much money. I mean, shouldn't every dress that cost $1K+ look amazing???? Smiley winking

What drove you crazy?

Yep; all's well that ends well.

I found my perfect dress at DB and I couldn't be happier.

The prices for sure! There was a beautiful dress with pink details that I had pulled but put in the very back of my options because it was way more than I wanted to spend. Thankfully I picked a dress before trying it on.

Shops not having the dresses I saw online in store was definitely the biggest frustration. I brought so many pictures to different shops and I think in total I tried on maybe like, 3 or 4 of the dresses I liked from online between the 3 stores.

The only thing i did not like was the store where i actually purchased my dress would not let me take pictures. I think had they let me i would have went to more dress stores afterwards. I like my dress and had already been to about 4 stores and on my second trip to this store, but i had to arrange to have everyone at my second appt to see the dresses i loved because i could not take a photo.

For me it was sizing and the fact that half the dresses I wanted to try on were on the website but had become discontinued 🙄

I really wanted something in color, and so it was really difficult to find a blush dress or a burgundy dress, so I found a champagne color, by essence of Australia, but it was way out of my budget, so I ended up getting a custom made dress at Coco Melody, which cost me a little extra as far as them putting the off the shoulders sleeves and changing the color to the champagne that I wanted it was still much less than the essence of Australia dress that was like, $1500 dollars and the dress I'm getting is costing me $590

The first is what I wanted but way out of my budget.
The second is what I'm getting

Ugh. One shop wouldn't let me either which sucked because I did a lot of shopping by myself and would send pics to my friend & mom for feedback.

I would think black or red would be the hardest! Those are risky colors and I would totally want to see those colors on before ordering it. Glad your custom dress worked out.

I remember when I went dress shopping for my first marriage 21 years ago. We went to a bridal boutique shop where you could not browse their dresses. I had to tell her my budget and what I kinda sorta wanted (at that time all I knew is that I didn't want rhinestones) and she would go in some back room and then come back with one dress. I'd have to say yes or no if I wanted to try it on. Rinse repeat. This was back before online shopping and pinterest so I didn't really have any ideas of what I wanted. Needless to say at least my latest shopping experience was more fulfilling and less painful. Lol

I will say the only frustrating thing from my latest dress shopping experience was so many more dresses that I saw online that were not carried in store. What is that about?

I knew what style I wanted but when I tried it on it wasn’t what I pictured. And I wear I size 2-4 in prom dresses. Still fit in them from high school but I had to wear a size 8-10 in wedding dresses which made me fee insecure. I hated the experience. I ended up going with my mother and grandma again later accidentally sorta. We stumbled upon a shop while out and my grandma wanted to go in because she offered to pay for my dress and I found the one. First one I tried on in the store and loved it

Good for you for trying again. I had put on 15 pounds so that plus the "wedding dress size" issue was certainly depressing. If the bridal industry was smart, they would do the opposite. Like if you're normally a 10 you're an 8 in wedding dresses. That would be a nice little perk to shopping. Smiley laugh

I really fell in love with Hayely Paige dresses. I just loved her whole vibe. I (of course) unwisely went on Pinterest and pinned the same dress (The Remmington) like 4 times, not knowing it was the same dress. I didn't know exactly how much it was, I just knew it was out of my budget. So I went looking for something "similar".

The first store I went to didn't have anything even remotely similar. I didn't like anything I tried on and the sales person pressured me to put down a $200 deposit and come back again at it would be applied to whatever dress I picked. Uuuummm, NO.

THEN, I stupidly went to Nordstrom during the Hayley Paige trunk show and tried on my dream dress. Dumb dumb dumb. Even with the discount it was about 1K over my budget. I walked away super bummed because nothing else looked like that dress.

Finally I just made a ton of appointments for one day down in Portland (no sales tax!). The first appointment was great and I found two great contenders from the Hayley Paige Blush collection (read: cheaper). The second appointment was awful. The sales lady was pushy, rushed and the place was a zoo. Nothing was really close to what I was looking for and she trashed talked the designer I liked 😒. The third appointment carried the Remmington. I put it on and didn't want to take it off. They offered me 15% off and with no sales tax, it was only 275 dollars over budget, so I bought it and never looked back!

    AND IT HAS SLEEVES! ❤❤❤✨

I know exactly what you mean! It's really frustrating, I am ting and petite and it was very hard to envision what the dresses would look like in my size. The dress I bought looks way different than the one I tried on in the larger size because of all the excess material. I love my dress but I probably wouldn't have bought it if I had tried a sample of it close to my size.
