Wedding Dress Shopping - Yikes!!

Brigitte, on February 13, 2020 at 1:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Was anyone else scared before they went shopping? I feel like I should be excited, but I just have so much anxiety about the whole thing and I'm not even looking forward to my appointment. I don't know why, maybe I'm just worried nothing will look good or I won't get that 'moment'

I wouldn’t say I was scared but I definitely was worried I wouldn’t find anything I loved. I found my dress the first place we went, and the lady helping me actually picked it out just for me! I wouldn’t have picked it myself and even on the hanger I wasn’t sure about it. But as soon as I put it on I just knew it was my dress!! Just be open to different styles and let the ladies who work there help if you feel stuck, they really do know the dresses! I hope you have so much fun!

You still have time, so if nothing looks right to you you can go back or go somewhere else. A lot of girls don’t have a moment like they’re on tv or something. I felt like a bride when I got my veil, not my dress. At the end of the day, they’re all pretty, you’ll look beautiful no matter what, your fiancé is excited to marry you, and it’s just a dress. Relax and enjoy looking at the lace and the gems and all the pretty things and don’t put too much pressure on yourself.

Oh I was terrified! By the end of the appointment though I was stripping almost naked with no problem haha. The consultants at bridal shops want you to be happy. They were so focused on getting dresses on me and off of me, I may as well have been a doll haha. I didn't feel like anyone was judging my body. I ended up finding a dress but it's ok if you don't. It'll give you time to regroup, think about the ones you tried on, and narrow down what you're looking for! It's totally ok to still be nervous though, it's a big decision!

I was definitely terrified! Everyone talks about "the moment" and it feels like this big expectation that you have to find "the" dress the first place you look.

Just try to remember that the people assisting you genuinely just want you to be happy Smiley smile Don't settle for anything you aren't sure about, and it's ALWAYS okay to not find the dress on the first go! I had to go three different times to five different places to find the one I actually loved.

I definitely was anxious. I decided to make a solo appointment before my trips with friends/family so I could see different styles and get a taste for what I thought looked good on me. It gave me some confidence for the “official” trips (which didn’t end up working out either—i went back to stores solo a few more times and finally found what I wanted). In all it took me about 5 stores to find what I wanted.

I was terrified! I HATE shopping! and shopping for clothes is even worse! The best advice I was given was don't take a crap ton of people with you because the opinions will make you crazy. And do your hair and makeup. Like if you were going out on a date. You tend to feel better that way and it gives you a chance to see what the final picture could be much better if you just throw your hair up and run out the door (like I normally do. lol) Also...try on every thing. even if it is a style you aren't normally fond of. You got this! Good luck!

I didn't get any 'moment' but I eventually found the perfect dress. When you go, do *not* let them convince you that you need to buy your dress the same day. Like every other important aspect of your wedding, you need time to look at different options, consider what your vision is, and make an informed decision.

The appointment is much more fun if you don't put pressure on yourself to walk away with a dress. I actually took about 2 weeks after my first appointments to make lists of the features I liked and did not like.
