Wedding dress stress.

kaybeearr, on August 29, 2017 at 11:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

I am trying so hard not to stress out about my wedding dress. So I ordered my dress in June. I fell in love with it. The consultant told me the vendor takes forever and that it will come in the soonest November 24th and the latest December 1st. I get married December 22nd and the dress was not custom made so needs alterations. The consultant told me a week for alternations is all I needed. Today I spoke with a seamstress and she said my alternations will need 3 weeks judging from pictures of me in a sample dress. I am having a destination wedding and now am freaking out. Everyone says I need to stay calm and not worry about the dress, but it's all I can think about. My family stays everything will work but I feel like I need a back up dress. My consultant is constantly calling the vendor to rush the order with no response. I keep blaming myself for being dumb and choosing this dress. Does anyone have advice on how to deal with stress and not freak out? Thanks.

Did you speak with the seamstress at the shop or a random seamstress? The store knows your wedding date and when you need the dress by. If they told you that THEIR seamstress needs one week, then that's what it will take based on experience. My shop takes a week as well. Don't worry about it. They are in the business of getting dresses to brides on time. They will get it done.

You shouldn't been freaking out over a dress you haven't received it. You have no idea how it is going to fit really until you step in it. You may find that you don't need as much alterations as thought. Even if you do need a good amount of alterations, a good seamstress will be able to handle it for you. Set up your alterations appointments now if you can or as soon as you can to allow for 3 fittings prior to your wedding date. Knowing you have your alteration dates set hopefully eases your stress.

If you spoke to the shops seamstress I would tell the consultant they need to make what they told you happen. What designer is your dress? My Allure was supposed to be in May 30, it came in April 10. And a week before they were still saying May 30.

They can do rush alterations, not a big deal. It'll alllll work out in the end I promise! And if it doesn't make them provide you a dress that will fit off the rackx

My dress came in a few weeks before it was set to come in so hopefully everything works out!

Thanks everyone for your input. The wedding dress store gave me numbers of seamstresses that is how I found her. I know for sure I need alternations because my upper torso measured a size 10 and my hips measured a size 14. So we went for the dress that will fit over my hips, size 14. My consultant is currently bugging the heck outta the vendor to get the dress rushed if possible. She made me feel less stress.
