Wedding dress suggestions

Leah, on March 4, 2020 at 2:40 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Y'all! Please consider your grandma's dress as an option for YOUR wedding dress. Not only is it free, but it is very special! I had a different idea for what kind of dress I was looking for, but my grandma's dress was just perfect; it's so very classic and fits me perfectly!

Were any of y'all been able do the same? I'd love to see pictures if so!

I didn’t have any of those as an option BUT a friend of mine did ask if I wanted her reception dress. I didn’t end up taking it but it is nice when it’s free and offered to you aha

My grandma was 5'9" and 110 pounds my entire life. And she got married at age 16.
    I'm 5'8" and a size 26...
I took some inspiration from her veil though.

My grandma has us all try on her dress about 10 years ago. It’s what my mom got married in and fit me perfectly at the time. It was pretty but so uncomfortable so I didn’t think I could get married in it.

My grandma is 4 ft 3 and 120 pounds. I'm ... not lol. I would've loved to have used part of my mom's dress, but she burned that up. With no regrets might I add.

I really wanted to wear my mom’s dress but she’s 5’ and I’m 5’6” lol. Would’ve been more expensive to alter it than to just buy a new dress Smiley sad

My gram let's each grand child cut off a piece of her dress to use our wedding day, some made a garter, others wrapped their bouquet stems in it, others made a hankie. I thought it was neat

I tried my mom's dress on last summer and it was literally impossible to zip and my arms are more muscular than hers were. Is it pretty? Sure. Was it me or my dress? Nope. Plus I don't think my mom would want us to alter it. I'm not sure my Grandma even has her dress anymore or if she does, that it's in a good enough condition to wear.

I would have loved the option. Alas, my grandma got married in a skirt suit which she didn't keep, and my mom eloped in jeans. I love the sentiment of using a family gown though!

Are you doing any alterations to make it more modern, or keeping it as is? Do you have pictures?
