Wedding Dress without a train

FutureMrsHodges, on May 7, 2012 at 1:51 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 33

Do you ladies think a wedding dress looks funny without a train? I showed my mom my potential dress and she said it don't look like a real wedding dress . Honestly I don't see a problem with it, it saves money I don't have to get a train bustled.

I wish there were more of them without trains. I would like one. Everyone has their own idea of a wedding dress is - fun part is we get to decide which one is right for us!

Mine doesn't have one and I couldn't care less! I'm with you about the bustle. It's a pain. If you like a dress without a train you just go for it! Whatever makes you feel beautiful Smiley laugh

If your dress doesn't have a train, don't sweat it Smiley smile we've had plenty of brides that have even worn bridesmaid dresses..

I personally prefer the train look... I agree that it looks more bridal.. it seperates it from a prom, quincinera or bridesmaid dress IMO, but I definitely don't think anyone should restrict themselves to a train for the sake of having a "wedding dress".. many women have pulled it off Smiley winking

I bought a vintage gown that had a train. I had it cut off and the dress shortened to tea length for a garden wedding.

Can you show us a picture of the dress you like?

Mine had a very short train. I think you should be happy and comfortable in what YOU want to wear.

I don't think so. It's all about what you want and what you feel comfy wearing. I chose my dress because of the train, lol.

That totally looks like a wedding gown. I wouldn't worry about what your mom is saying. It's a beautiful dress.

I agree, it definitely looks like a wedding gown. I like the train on mine, but I'm sort of scared to walk in it! It would definitely be more convenient without one.

Everyone has their own idea of how a bride should look. Remember the puffy sleeves of the 80s?? the Boho chic dresses with flower crowns of the 70s?

It's all about your style and what you feel comfortable in wearing. This is the one thing in the wedding that no one should dictate to you because you are wearing. So, the first person that you should be making happy in this instance is you...

I don't have a train on mine. I didn't want to worry about people stepping on the back of it and getting it dirty. That is a beautiful wedding dress, you have me double thinking mine lol Smiley smile

I think it's a gorgeous dress! My Train ended up being nothing more than a pain all night. It was bustled and right before the Father/Daughter dance it fell and I had to have it bustled again. Just annoying. I didn't even know what the point of it was the whole time.

    I love that dress!!

My dress had a very small swoop train so I didnt have to worry about having it bustled.

My sister just bought a wedding dress without a train. She is just going to get a cathedral length veil, to kind of simulate a train. On the plus side, she won't have to pay to have a bustle added either.
