Wedding dress

I found a dress I absolutely love on me, but I feel like I need to keep looking as it’s not super expensive! Will probably be $500 with alterations and adding a few things...I plan on getting a MWL veil and amazing shoes since it’s on the low end of my budget...I feel like society and social media makes me feel like if I don’t spend a bunch of money it’s not bridal enough or the one...

How much did you guys spend on your dresses? Do you regret spending a lot? Or not enough?

It’s definitely not about the price, but can totally see where your coming from. I had a budget in my head originally only wanted to spend between $400-$800. However whenever we went shopping I ended up falling in love with a dress that was $1,500. However I’m also a bigger girl a size 20-22 so I have a smaller picking of dresses. Besides the point I think if you look and feel beautiful that’s what truly matters. I consider your self lucky you’ve got a great deal! Best wishes ❤️

If you love the dress, go for it! I worked in bridal for three years, and my original budget for my dress was $5,000. My dress wound up costing $750, and it’s perfect for me! I tried on gowns that were $3,000+ that I liked, but they weren’t my dress. I’m happy to have the rest of my dress budget for other things, I have absolutely no regrets about my gown. It’s not about the price, it’s how you feel in the dress. 😊

If you love the dress and it makes u feel like a bride that's all that matters. My dress was a 1000 which I bought it on a clearance sale which I didn't think was a terrible price. It really comes down to how you feel in the dress.

I spent exactly my budget of $3k. I don’t think it’s about the $ though. I saw dresses for way less I loved and dresses for way more that looked cheap. I have a second dress for my church wedding which is a month later that I got for $250. It’s from a sample sale but was never worn. I love that one too! Money didn’t real play into decision unless it was over budget, not under!

I went over my dress budget, but that’s only because I splurged and ended up getting my dream dress and I’m also factoring in alterations. If you find a dress that is $500, that is legit and from a store where you can try it on, that is an amazing price for a wedding dress!

I spent about $450 on my dress (probably $600-$700 after alterations) and am just as thrilled as if I had spent thousands. I do intend to splurge on the veil a bit and the other accessories but that is unrelated to the initial cost of the dress.

If you love it, get the dress and celebrate your great find. Bank that saved money for other expenses you really want (could be your accessories or anything really).

No one ever needs to know how much the dress cost! If you love it and you can afford it, you should go for it. The only concern would be if the materials looked or felt cheap — if it looks good and feels good a low price tag doesn’t mean much and isn’t important!

I spent about $800 on the dress alone. If I found a dress for $500 all in that I loved, I'd jump on that. No one knows how much you spent on your dress, and you don't need to spend thousands of dollars. If you love it, get it!

It's not the price, its how you feel!! I tried on a 15,000 dollar dress, but I can't wait to wear the $900 dress I ended up picking! Its more me, and it will be perfect!

I spent 800 on a customized dress for myself. I will probably spend another 100 on cape and 100 on shoes. My goal was to spend under 1000 on my dress and my alterations are included!

I only paid $500 for my dress. I’m not into all the lace and beading. So mine is a simple satin dress, but made me feel great 😊 that’s all that matters.

    Hi there!

My dress was $450 with alterations $500. It is absolutely GORGEOUS! Many people I've shown it to cannot believe it only cost that much. You can find beautiful dresses for much less than what "society" thinks you should spend on a dress. Live within your means. I know many might be opposed to me saying this but... it is ONE DAY, you are wearing the dress for ONE DAY spending an astronomical amount on a wedding dress blows my mind when there are SO many beautiful wedding gowns under $1000 heck in my case under $500. I 1000% do not regret not spending more on my wedding dress. I would choose mine over and over again!!!

You should not feel bad whatsoever! I bet your gown is gorgeous and you will rock it!

SAME! Mine was $450... $500 with alterations! I also do not like all the shimmer, beading and lace. Mine is a simple, elegant satin trumpet dress with an old Hollywood feel which I love!

I think spending a ton of money on a dress you are going to wear once is ridiculous. Also white/ivory dresses are near impossible to keep clean, so even if you found a dress you loved and felt like you could repurpose for a different event, its still unlikely that you would ever get a ton of use out of it.

I bought a pre-owned dress from StillWhite that retailed for $2100-$2400 and paid $430 shipped. It already had a bustle added and the previous owner had almost the exact same measurements as me so I didn't need to have any additional alterations. My husband spent more on his suit, but he will be able to wear the same suit for years and many events to come.

I 100% agree! It blows my mind how some spend big bucks on a dress for one day..... mine was $500 including alterations.
