Wedding dresses and cleavage

Mandi, on July 8, 2016 at 4:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

I was reading an article today about Ciara's dress (which I love, btw) and there were many comments from people thinking she was showing too much cleavage. I thought she kept it classy and looked amazing! I am a bigger girl and have always had a larger chest so I guess I just don't get too worked up over things like this. I know I had to be careful when selecting my dress regarding this issue and my mom still makes comments on some of the wedding pictures that I was "showing too much." Curious to hear others thoughts and opinions.

Your body, your dress, your choice. I don't mind a plunge neckline or super push up bra. I just don't like the dresses that are practically see-through. Like, cool. Rock the bod, babe, but I don't need to see your butt cleave

@zeldbride I am not a fan of the see-thru bodice dresses either. Illusion back is one thing and to each their own but that goes a little too far for me.

I wish I had bigger boobs. If you got it flaunt it. In the end it only really matters how you feel in the dress and if you love the way you look in your dress

Ciara doesn't have much cleavage to show...

But as a lady with large ladies I say show them and be proud.

I have no idea who Ciara is. I also have a very large chest. It was a priority to me to not be showing cleavage in my wedding dress. I'm not at all for showing it in my daily clothes, I sure don't want to be showing it on the day I get married to my DF.

Like pp however, I also think the see through dresses look very tasteless, like the bride put on her bra and a skirt and decided to walk down the aisle half naked.

See through I dont like either. To much.

However as someone with large girls sometimes they are harder to hide than pride haha

Have to agree with ZeldaBride! If you felt beautiful and loved how you look than be happy. It is about how you feel and see yourself (and maybe how the guy sees you) that matters. Personally the illusion, revealing dresses are the one that are overwhelming, but some cleavage that you are proud of, rock it. If you see it as beautiful and have no personal regrets than let others keep their opinions. Don't doubt your decisions because of others.

I feel like if your breasts are large, not to worry about it. If I always tried to hude my breasts I would constantly have to wear a crew neck. There's no hiding large boobues.

    @Dena - I gigglesnorted. Lol!

This one I actually find to be really beautiful. Gorgeous dress that emphasizes nice cleavage.

I'm a bit nervous about my cleavage after seeing it when I picked my dress. However, I don't think I will go to much lengths to cover it. If it's there, it's there. But I do think I felt my cleavage was a bigger deal than anyone else did.

I kind of feel like you do you. I'm pretty large in the breast area but I'm not a cleavage fan on myself, so I didn't flaunt it.

    ETA: clarification

I have to laugh at this thread, because of the conversation I recently had with my seamstress

Her: I can completely take off an applique flower from the skirt and put it on the neckline - no one will ever know the difference and you won't be showing as much

Me: Oh, that's okay; the V-neck is one of the reasons I chose this dress to begin with!

    Her: *crickets*

My opinion is, if you feel comfortable, flaunt it. Just don't flaunt so much that you make reasonable people uncomfortable (like that sheer mesh dress - thanks for the giggle @Zelda!)

ETA: I grew up in a fairly conservative family, so I'm certainly not trying to scandalize anyone in it. At the same time, I'm not going to hide under a flour sack. I'm a woman and I have breasts. This shouldn't come as surprise to anyone at my wedding.

Some brides want to be more sexy, some prefer to be more demure. Honestly, I think people just like to hate on celebs!

Meh... I'm not a fan of showing a lot of cleavage during a family event, but I think there's a tasteful level for those that do. Ciara's wasn't trashy or anything, but I wouldn't be comfortable with it.

Ciara's wedding dress was gorgeous! I feel like as long as you wear something you're comfortable with, that's what matters. Everyone likes to judge as if their own standards/tastes apply to everyone else. Ugh.

Personally, I'm not a fan of sexy wedding dresses. For how I see my wedding, something more traditional is much more my style. But not everyone sees their wedding the same way, so not everyone will have the same tastes. I'm sure even the dress Zelda posted would be great in some circles, but definitelyyyyyy not in mine.
