Wedding dresses and Husband/Partner's Feelings/Opinions

OP, I watch SYTTD too and I feel like any fiancé will be amazed at their Bride on the big day. So many emotions running high, so much excitement. I've taken my FH regular dress shopping and his jaw drops at every dress I put on but he is critical at the same time telling me which one he liked best and least. But honestly you'll only be wearing one dress (probably?) so there wouldn't be any comparing anyway.

As for family and friends- not everyone is going to like the bride's dress. I didn't like many of the dresses I've seen on brides at weddings. I think that's why it can be nuts bringing 10 people to an appointment and expecting them all to be on the same page is just ludicrous. The only person who has to love the dress is the Bride. The Bride's FS is going to be too awestruck to ever think to be critical.

FH is just as picky as I am. He is also my best friend and I want him to be a part of every aspect of our wedding. So yes my FH has absolutely hated some of the dresses I've tried on. However I also know if I really fell in love with something he would suck it up to see me happy.

We looked at some dress websites together so he could give his feedback on certain styles. We both liked the same styles, so I was confident that he'd like what I picked. I didn't show him the actual dress until I was wearing it for the first look.

Anybody worth marrying will keep their mouths shut if they do hate the dress. A bride will never know, and that's fine.

LOL...on a random note, one of my officiants was on the show last night! I think she is more excited than the couple was!

My partner has watched probably 70 episodes, by default......he always comments on the brides dresses when he comes back from his weddings!

FH isn't thrilled that I went with separates but I'm confident that he'll like the actual dress and with the whole look together. It'll also be our wedding day so I really don't think it will matter what I'm wearing.

He found out about the separates because I listened to my voicemail on speaker and it was salon saying "you're skirt is in!!" *facepalm*

I showed my DH a bunch of ballgowns, including the one I was thinking of buying, before the wedding. He disliked them, saying they were poofy. I bought the dress I loved anyway because it looked great on me. The day after I asked him if he hated the dress. He told me it was "me" and I made a great choice.

FH has wonderful taste in clothing and he knows that I'm very simple so I'm sure he's not concerned with me wearing gawdy. My dress is A-line strapless with some beading in the front.

I didn't discuss the dress with him...went with my best friend and picked one I liked. Told him I bought a dress. A few weeks later he saw a print out of several types of wedding dresses, held it up and said "are you wearing a wedding dress?" (we are having a backyard wedding and I guess he thought I would wear something else). I said "yep" and he said "ok"...end of discussion. At the end of the day, they usually don't care near as much as we think they do.

I've watched SYTTD with my fiancée in the past and he disliked almost every dress and had specific reasons why! I'm like well what DO you like? Lol

It was a concern of mine, because my BIL did not like how my sister looked on their wedding day and I worried about it at first. But I know when it comes to the big day, he's going to love whatever I choose and be more focused on my ear to ear grin as I walk down the aisle. I can't wipe the smile off my face just thinking about it!!!
