Wedding Elopement BBQ Celebration

Taura, on May 12, 2017 at 1:06 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 2

Hi All,

So my fiance and I have been planning wedding stuff and got pretty overwhelmed with the cost and craziness of all the wedding planning. So we decided to do a small wedding/elopement of sorts with our parents and then a couple of weeks later do a bbq potluck for friends and family. We're providing the burgers and drinks and then people can bring their own dishes. So what is the etiquette for this? I need tips for how to set this up and what to do at the party. Do we do games, toasts, cake etc? We'd like it to be very relaxed & people enjoying themselves with no stress. But i'm not sure what activities/wedding stuff we should do??? Also for a relaxed bbq can we still do regular plates and wine glasses? or is that too fancy? We had already bought the plates and silverware and i would hate to use paper when we already have this. What do we wear? Should I wear my wedding dress,a white summer dress, or jeans with some sort of wedding themed t shirt etc? and what about him?

Thanks

Having BBQ professionally catered is step 1.

After you have that figured out. You wear whatever you want to.

Agree on the catered BBQ unless you're talking like under 30. One less stress that way, too. I love your guys' ideas and how relaxed it will be. I'm currently trying to find my happy medium between a more formal rustic type wedding and what it sounds like you guys are doing (FH's ideal) Smiley smile I would def use your plates (why not? I always like dressing things up a little bit) And maybe simply dress up a little more to fit that (white dress would be perfect), but heck it's your wedding celebration. If you have a dress and want to wear it, do! Smiley smile
