Wedding Favors. Any ideas? Are koozies really lame?

Dana, on October 20, 2018 at 11:53 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
I have been to a good amount of weddings and the only favor that I can remember that I still use is a bottle opener. My best friend's brother got married and they did old fashion keys that were bottle openers as well. However, they flopped and were left on the tables. I'm thinking koozies but I was told they are lame. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Yeah koozies are lame.... my advice is if nothing is jumping out at you, do something edible or do nothing at all.

Please don’t waste your money on stupid koozies.

    Totally agree with the pp.

Food, liquor, or nothing at all.

What is so lame about koozies is putting people's names and dates on them. I have been to recent weddings, huge overlap in guest lists, with koozies favors. Friends, they ordered from the same place. Bride 1 took home all but 6 , upset no one wanted them, with their names and wedding date. Second one, no names, no logo at all, everybody was walking out with them. None left. Which mirrors what my friends and I do: Any favor with a name of couple etc, or a motto, not worth taking home, junk. Same things unlabeled, if nice or useful, or edible, take them. I still see favors as unnecessary, low down as a budget priority. But in my experience, the only thing anyone but parents and grandparents, B & G and bridal party want a name and date on, is small wedding albums of a few or a lot of photos. Not bottle stoppers, not koozies, wine glasses, flasks, ashtrays, anything, unless a peel off sticker. Only thing I dislike more, is little 2.5 oz bottles if liqueurs, or 1 shot nips of hard liquor, at weddings with kids or teens, many of whom pocket every one they can. But koozies themselves do not promote liquor, and kids like them for soft drinks, as well as adults. So many weddings with kids do not have kid friendly favors, so for that reason I hope some people give them as favors still. But not with a beer or malt liquor logo, even if B & G favorite drink, and not with couple's name.

I think kazoos are an adorable idea. I feel like most favors end up thrown out eventually anyway, so I don't see how a kazoo is any lamer than generic stuff like bottle openers/picture holders/etc.

TBQH I will say though that depending on the theme of your wedding, they might leave a bad impression on people if it seems out of place. I.e. if you're going for a more traditional/glamorous wedding at a country club or something fancy, kazoos might not go over so well, compared to if, say, you had a fun/casual wedding at a farm or a museum or other alternative venues.

We are having koozies, and hopefully people will take them, but they aren't the favors. We are having a beer boat (canoe full of ice and beers), so I ordered bottle koozies so people didn't have to hold the icey wet bottles.

Our actual favors are cast iron bottle openers. No personalization, but with gift tags attached.

I love koozies. My hand always gets cold when holding my drink so I always use one. I always bring one when going to parties so I would love another. With that said I am not doing them as our favors -doesn't go with our theme

Personally, I think edibles are the way to go though - or just skip them completely. As a guest I don’t like bringing home extra stuff, especially with other people’s names on it (just my opinion) so I probably wouldn’t take one. The last wedding we went to had favors of fudge because that’s the couples cat’s name - personal but edible!

I think the koozie idea really depends on you and your group of friends and family. Where I am from koozies seem to be a staple of wedding favors and people love them. Seems like all my friends have buckets of koozies for others to use at parties and love getting more, which is why we'll be having koozies and an edible take home favor as well. It's really just a personal preference.

They are lame. They’d go straight into my trash can. I wouldn’t do favors personally, so many people just won’t take them or use them

Those are so cute! I would definitely want those as a favor.

I'd definitely do something edible. If it flops and no one takes koozies, you'll be left with a whole bunch. At least if you end up with a bunch of cookies or chocolate, you can always eat them Smiley smile

Koozies are only cool if they don't have their names on it. I have one from a wedding with all their info on it and I don't use, ever. I probably have thrown it away sense then. I'd do cookies or something edible. We aren't doing favors at all.
