Wedding Favors- Yes or No?

Antonia, on August 9, 2019 at 11:48 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 49

Is anyone not doing wedding favors for their guests? My fiance and I are discussing not giving favors because they are just going to sit on people's shelves and collect dust. Plus we aren't doing a send off, we decided we're just going to quietly slip out with the help of our best man and MOH.

We are not doing favors. We will do small welcome bags for the out of town guests but no favors at the actual wedding.

We're not doing favors- not worth the money for them to be wasted. Instead we're making donations to our favorite charities. These cards will be a part of the centerpieces:

There is nothing wrong with not doing favors. Save the money, if that is what you want to do. But I will say that we did personalized koozies as our favors, and the guests loved them.

Our favors are very unique. FH and I are involved in a teenage ministry and have about a million "clappers" you know the hands that clap together and are super loud. Anyways a friend of ours ordered a tons of clappers and personalized them with our initials. People can use the obnoxious things at the ceremony and they can choose to take them home or leave them in the box for the night youth night. If it wasn't for that, I would have choosen not to have favors. ( I think that decision is perfectly fine and sneaking out is fine too)

We didn't do favors. It was one less thing to pay for and manage.

They for sure aren't required! Don't feel like you have to do them. We did them & we did a sendoff, but both are 100% optional.

Skip them. I am 54, the veteran of two weddings myself, plus countless weddings as a guest from the mid 70's, 80, 90's and beyond. I truly believe many of the following are invented to squeeze money of couples: favors, photobooths, chocolate fountains, bridesmaid proposal boxes, Save The Dates, signs, etc.

We never had any of these things back in the day and we all lived, lol.

After reading previous discussions here, I decided that we do not have to do this after all. As several people pointed out, unless it’s food/candy, most favors are left on the table or trashed. Even if they are $1 each, I could invite two more guests for the amount it would come to.
But, as we near the wedding date we will review the budget because I’d like a photo booth if we can afford it. I know it’s not necessary either, but I think they’re fun and can then be a favor for the guests to take home. Or perhaps we will just buy inexpensive props and set up a selfie station...

I agree that skipping them is not a bad thing. We ended up doing them but so many people forgot them. Don’t waste your money.

We aren't doing favors because they will eventually find their way to the trash at the end of the night.

We are kind of doing them. We are having a masquerade ball so the masks are like their favor. I didn't want my guests to be left out without a mask. If it was anything else though ie: koozies, bottle openers, etc. then no I would not do favors unless its food! Also, that will be nice to just slip out as the party continues and slows down! I think that's a cool idea!

We’re not doing them. We don’t need one more thing to spend money on. My sister had these amazing caramels as her favors, which I considered. But we’ll be providing the guests with plenty of food they don’t need one more piece of candy.

I originally wasn’t going to do any (we had a photo booth and kind of figured the prints out would be) but my mother really wanted true favors lol So she paid for some edible macaron favors that looked and tasted good!

I just went to a wedding..there were no favors. I didn't care one bit.

FH and I will be doing favors..but only because I want to make flying keys out of skeleton key bottle openers..as a nod to FHs love of Harry Potter

We talked about doing them but at the end of the day it's just not in the budget. I don't think anyone is going to miss them haha.

Hold on to your money girl. No one is going to cry over the fact that they didn't get a box of mints or a monogrammed koozie LOL

100% skip them. When I did wedding photography we had brides at EVERY wedding begging all the vendors to take all the favors their guests didn't want or forgot. They are a waste of money.
