Wedding Favors- Yes or No?

Antonia, on August 9, 2019 at 11:48 AM

Is anyone not doing wedding favors for their guests? My fiance and I are discussing not giving favors because they are just going to sit on people's shelves and collect dust. Plus we aren't doing a send off, we decided we're just going to quietly slip out with the help of our best man and MOH.

Our “favors” were a late night snack with to-go bags/boxes. We had donut holes and Philly pretzels which went well!

My mom insisted on a “real” favor (bottle openers) and almost all of them were left behind.

I wasn't going to do favors but thinking about doing Hershey kisses and getting stickers for the bottom with a cute saying. Simple sweet and fairly inexpensive

We’re doing them because I fell in love with these cute butterfly boxes but I don’t think they’re absolutely necessary, I never cared for the ones I got at weddings.
FH is taking this on as his project because he has a lot of fun ideas so why not? I’m curious to see what he comes up with. I only know it’ll be fantasy themed and edible. He mentioned something about dragon scales.

We didn't bother doing favors. No one noticed and it was a good way of cutting costs

FH and I have decided to skip on favors. We are already spending enough money and just think our guests will forget to take them home when they leave so it's not worth it to us. Weddings I've been to the favors that were food I ate during down time of the wedding and physical favors I honestly don't know where they are.

Its your wedding do it how you want. If you dont want to do them dont . Me personally when i go to a wedding i love at least having the mints bc after dinner it calms the belly and makes your breath a little fresher lol.. but if you choose not to that is your choice ..

No favors here either. Why would I waste my money on something that will get left behind or collect dust?

I was thinking the same exact thing because that is not very expensive. Even if people don’t want them or forget to grab one ( I do that all the time), it’s ok because I’ll eat them myself! 😋 I saw something on Pinterest that I want to do.

We are making a donation to charity instead of giving out favors

I 100% agree with you!! We only did save the dates because we’re having a destination wedding, but otherwise I think it’s unnecessary. Unless favors are food or booze, skip it! No matter how cute they are, no one really wants them. Donate to a charity if you feel you have to do something.

We are not doing them. It’s so much extra money and most people don’t even take them home or use them. Plus you are already throwing a giant party for people with food and booze! Smiley smile

I have also been debating doing favors. I like the idea of thanking my guest for coming, but I don't want to waste my time or money on something that will be left at the table or thrown away. So we have decided to do an edible favor. We are thinking either doughnuts with a sign that says, Doughnut mind if "I do" or a candy table with a sign that says love is sweet so take a treat.

If we do them they'll be edible. Since October is huge apple orchard season here in Michigan i'm considering mini apple pies if I do any. If people leave them behind oh darn I have extra apply pie!

    Hello ladies,

I actually have not thought about this at all since i am so focus on getting a venue first. I do have my parents wedding coming up in about 2 months and my plan was to get candles and putting 2 in each table and that's it. I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and each candle was 14.50$. So i am considering not even doing that. Extra expense that we do not need. For my wedding i have no thoughts on that as of yet.
