Wedding favors

Are you doing them or not? And why? I think it's fun, but a waste of money. I've never used any wedding favor I've gotten in the past. There are some favor ideas that I would like to do, but it's extra money to spend on something that I'm not sure people even really care about. What do you guys...

My FH and I have talked about individually packaged chocolates we can buy in bulk (either Lindt truffles or Ferrero Rocher). We are having a winter wedding so we aren't worried about them melting and if there are extras we will definitely enjoy them.

We’re doing them - I know most people don’t care but can’t force myself to skip it. I appreciate them as a guest and never leave them behind. I don’t love the souvenir glassware that becomes a random one-off in your cabinets or anything that’s awkward to take home when you only have a small purse, but I loved and still use a little set of heart shaped measuring spoons I got once as a favor (no branding with the couple’s names), and another friend did mini champagne bottles with a goofy photo of each guest printed on the gift tag. I loved that they put in that much effort to find a photo of everyone, and we used the champagne for mimosas the next morning.

We have a few definite non-drinkers on our guest list so we’re not doing that - probably will do the fixings for S’mores assembled in a little cellophane bag with a cute tag attached. I know not everyone likes S’mores and some people will leave them behind, but I feel like they’re a crowd pleaser for most and I’m more comfortable doing an edible favor people *might* want vs. doing nothing.

We're skipping favors. The venue will give our guests pretzels and lemonade / iced tea on the way out. So they are leaving with something lol

We did chocolate covered toffee from a local baker (that supported local business) & mini hand sanitizers. There was zero left overs! They were a hit!

I’m doing wedding favors! We got cups made for our guests. Super cheap and they can be used during the reception or they can just take them home. Totally worth it.

Waste of money! Most of them get left behind anyways, get thrown away at home, or left in a junk drawer!
I think since these are all your loved ones anyways, they’re there for you, not the gifts! Everyone will be enjoying the night as is and should not have any expectations of getting gifts!

I was opting on not doing favors, but I have a photo booth and I found these picture frames specifically for photo booth pictures for pretty crap and those will be the “favors”. I figure a lot of people will neglect to grab traditional favors, but I’m sure they will utilize the photo booth and appreciate the frame to keep them in.

We’re skipping. Originally I planned on having a thank you note with the two charities we’d be making a donation in their name too. (I know people have varying opinions on this. My guest would have loved it.) BUT that cost of the printing was over the top $$, so we are skipping.

We're planning on doing individual wrapped macarons, because my FH and I always get macarons when we go on trips. And if some are left over, more macarons for us! We'll also have a photo booth, so people will be able to take home those pictures.

Doing them! I’m giving out coasters (not personalized or anything) that have stars on them. It ties in with our theme. Each guest will get a set of 2, so 4 per couple for a complete set of coasters.

I think we’re going to try to do little chocolates from a local shop we both love! I love that we can support a local business and then no one has to feel bad about throwing out something with our names/wedding date on it, they can just enjoy the chocolate! (Plus any that gets left behind I will gladly enjoy!)

There is a video by wedding planner Jaimie Wolfer on YouTube I think it’s called Things Your Guests DGAF About and she shows a video of all the favors guests leave at the end of the night

The succulents I found on Etsy. I found cute little pots on Amazon. Also from Etsy I found little pot sticks that say Let Love Grow, with our date in it.

For my favors instead of doing individual favors, I am doing a candy buffet. That way whoever wants it can fill up a bag/box and take it with them and what's left you can take home.

Favors are an additional optional expense. I've been to wedding with and without them and the weddings were lovely, either way. So, if you don't have anything personal that you really want to do or it's just not in your budget, skip them!

For us, we are doing 5oz bottles of hot sauce with a personalized label, but it fits us because we are both of Mexican descent and are having a fiesta-themed wedding. Plus, it's one of the very few things my FH has been excited about doing, so I'm running with it.
