Wedding favors

Are you doing them or not? And why? I think it's fun, but a waste of money. I've never used any wedding favor I've gotten in the past. There are some favor ideas that I would like to do, but it's extra money to spend on something that I'm not sure people even really care about. What do you guys...

I felt the same way in that I never take the party favors unless it’s food related lol. My wedding was cancelled but we still did our original favors for our mini celebration. We decided on scratch offs, my husband and I met at work (working for a casino brand) and we thought it was a cute play on how we met. We planned on $1 scratch offs for our guests (originally 200), thought it would be fun and not a total waste. We ended up with just ten family members at dinner after our ceremony and we did $5 scratch offs, everyone loved it. Wedding favors 2

I was originally going to skip doing favors but then I bought a cricut and got in over my head on DIY projects lol.

I ordered a bunch of blank shot glasses and have been adding vinyl to them myself.
In addition, I have a snack truck coming at the end of the night with fast food, soda, and candy.

I am doing favors, I don't know what I'm doing yet (lol) but I am doing them. Our theme is Walker&Co of course like Tiffany&Co and I want to do little Tiffany boxes and fill them with something (don't know what it is tho). To each it's own, I say if you find something cute and you can spare the extra cash go ahead. However, if you don't think it's worth it save that money...

Skipping them. Jamie Wolfer (a wedding planner that has a popular YouTube channel) says most often a majority of favors get left behind, so they are a waste of money and resources. I don't think they are necessarily bad, but unless they are super creative and meaningful they just aren't likely to add a whole lot and won't be missed if they aren't there. We would rather save the money or invest it in a component of our wedding we feel will actually make a difference and impact our guests experience.

Not 100% sure. I’m either going to just do little picture frames or those photo stand holders and put the seating cards on them.

I personally feel that a big enough thank you to your guest is the money you are spending on their plate of food. Most catering services charge $50+ a plate. That’s a HUGE chunk of money for each guest and a way to show you still appreciate them because a.) free dinner and b.) you’re invited.

Not to come off in a rude way, but my in laws expect favors and I am trying to save money where I can especially having a micro-wedding due to financial situations. We weren’t going to have a wedding at all, but everyone insisted so this is a big enough gift.

Our wedding favors we are giving out is this fun little set up we’ll be having which is temporary tattoos.. we are a tattooed couple and we wanted to share our love for tattoos by purchasing cheap temporary tattoos for kids/adults and we even got custom made ones with our faces on them lol. It was really inexpensive and we cannot wait to see who uses them. Also.. this could be another alternative but we will also be providing an emergency kit in both the men & women’s restroom so things such as extra masks, first aid, Tylenol.. sewing kit etc that can be provided to guest as a favor. You can buy them in the travel section at a dollar store or Walmart. At the end of the day.. planning a wedding is stressful enough so it’s up to you what YOU want to do.

We are not skipping, we will be putting jars of honey at everyone's place settings. If guest leave them behind that's fine - it won't go to waste.

We are doing a "Pittsburgh cookie table" which is common in Pittsburgh, PA. It's also a great way to save money if you have bakers in the family. Back in the great depression, Pittsburgh area couples were still getting married but alot of people couldn't afford to buy gifts. Instead, all of the women in the family would get together a week before the wedding and bake dozens of dozens of cookies for the wedding day. Traditionally, the cookies are usually italian cookies but they can be any kind! You lay all of the cookies out on the table at your wedding and you have your guests eat some there and take some home. You put out togo boxes and they fill up their boxes. People obsess over it. I can't tell you how many of my guests from Pittsburgh have asked me if I'm having a cookie table at my Los Angeles wedding. You should try it!

If we do a favor it'll be a bottle of wine, something that will be used. A bottle with a bow and a note, done.

If we do any favor (likely won’t) this is the only option we’ve even considered for those reasons. And I’m not even sure we would put our names or wedding date on them. I have so much stuff like that from other weddings and... meh

When I said I might not do favors, I forgot that I am definitely doing a cookie table. Went to several polish weddings as a kid and everyone seemed to have the Pittsburgh cookie table. Do you have certain people make the cookies? I didn’t want everyone to think they were required to bring a dozen cookies

Awesome! So traditionally the bride and grooms female members would come over a couple weeks or a week before the wedding and you would bake cookies at somebody’s home. We did this with for my stepmoms wedding and it was an amazing experience. We were baking, drinking wine and doing family time. However, in terms of bringing cookies on your actual wedding day, they are typically made beforehand and given to you or your appointed cookie table attendant days in advance. I wouldn’t ask your friends and family to bring cookies the day of the wedding. A lot of cookies freeze well and you can make them way in advance.

If you are like me, baking them myself isn’t in the cards since I live in LA and I’m a terrible baker. I’m ordering mine from a traditional Italian bakery.
If you search “Pittsburgh cookie table” on Etsy you will find a ton of cute printable signs that will explain the tradition for your guests so they know they double as favors. Place a sign on your cookie table. Label your box with a “thank you” stamp or sticker if you have time! I hope this helps!

Skip unless you want to serve a commercially prepared food item. Favors are a new thing, never had them in the 70's - 90's so yeah........skip.

I have totally been thinking about not doing them. If I do favors it will be something edible most likely.

Not doing a favor, but thinking about giving a bottle of wine with a custom label at check-in at the hotel.
