Wedding favors??

Shaina, on July 24, 2019 at 11:05 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 25
Hey all so I’m stuck in what wedding favors to do that are cheap. We have about 150 that we need to get all without breaking the bank. My top two ideas are:
-mini coffee bean bags, “Love is Brewing”
-flower seeds (that grow in my area), “Let Love Grow”

Which is your favorite? Also, once you pic a favorite tell me any other ideas you may have. I would love to hear them.

thank you all💓

I think you should do half and half! Not everyone likes coffee and same with flowers.

We are doing homemade chocolates and fridge magnets!

I'm a huge coffee drinking, so you definitely have me a coffee beans!

    Some other options:

    1) Popcorn favors that say "thanks for popping in" or "love is popping" or "all because he popped the question" (ideas on pintrest).

    2) Skip favors and make a donation to charity, just give each guest a card or make signs that explain "in lieu of favors, we made a donation to ______"

    3) DIY S'more kits that say something like "s'more love" (there are a bunch of these on pintrest).

I would honestly skip favors, but then again I'm anti-favors. After about a dozen weddings I've either attended, or been in, I don't think I've ever taken a favor home. We're doing donations to charities instead.

We did the s’mores and they were pretty inexpensive but lots of people forgot them so we had to take them home. Don’t feel obligated to do favors. Save your money!

Favors aren't required so if they aren't in the budget, I would skip them as your guests won't be expecting them and probably won't even notice there isn't any. We did mini newspapers but only because I designed them and was able to have them printed for free at my work (my families print shop) but otherwise, we wouldn't have had any.

I personally love both ideas. The coffee might be a bit more universal than the flower seeds but both would work.

I like the coffee one better, but I agree, skip them. We aren't planning to do any favors.

I'd skip them or do something edible (more edible than coffee!). Maybe get cookies from a local bakery and put them in individually-wrapped bags - you can do the "Love is Sweet" theme for those.

Coffee BEANS specifically serve me no purpose. I need them ground haha I don't have a grinder and maybe many other guests wouldn't either. I think coffee grounds or the flower seeds is nice. But coffee grounds would be easiest. Not everyone is going to want to plant their flower seeds. You can even DIY these bags. Little ziploc baggy that fits inside the burlap bag. Then buy some bulk nice flavored coffee that's on the fancier side (not saying go buy a big tub at the store haha order something online), fill them yourself as a DIY. Could be very cost effective this way.

Edible or useful favors if any at all. We're giving our guests bottle openers that look like antique keys and putting bags of skittles in the attached pillow boxes. I have seen homemade cookies decorated like things you might see at a wedding and cozies for beer or soda cans. Most craft stores will also have candy and candle making supplies and who doesn't love that? I think my favorite idea for fall or winter weddings is jars full of either hot cocoa mix or s'mores supplies. Good luck and have fun with it.

I bought favor boxes from the dollar store and will put Ghirardelli or Lindor chocolates in them and set them out next to my dessert table.

Hey we are having the same amount of people but decided not to do favors cause let’s be honest have you ever kept or used any you have gotten from weddings. Me personally if you can’t eat it it’s a waste of money and time. So we decided to focus that money spent on food, bar, and transportation. People really don’t comment or talk about favors they talk about how good or bad the food was, if they had to pay for drinks, or if they had sober up to find a ride home or back to the hotel. If your going to do favors do something with food like a s’mores bag or something in that nature.

We were going to skip favors, but FH insisted! So we have chosen to do milk chocolate covered espresso beans (a favorite of both of ours), and will use the favors boxes to double as our escort cards.

I personally love the the coffee bean idea! That was our other option!

I say skip them. They end up in the trash unless they are edible...those little candy almonds do not qualify as edible in my book. We passed on them as they were either too tacky or just too expensive. Then we thought...almost all the ones we got ended up in the trash....so we decided not to do them.

We are doing little chocolates! Literally just like dove chocolate and Hershey kisses. I ordered teal.mesh favor bags off Amazon for super cheap, also got little thank you cards with some twine to put around them.

These are what we're doing! Having the mints (blue, green, purple and yellow ones only) on trays on the reception tables for the guests. And tieing the lavender sachets to the bow of the chair sashes. My colours are lavender and mint! The lavender cost me like $30 total and same with the candy so not a big deal to me.

We are doing a candy bar. It's not pricey and you can match the candies to your color.

Do both so guests can have options.
