Wedding games!

Linda, on November 6, 2017 at 2:12 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 29

Hi everyone! What are some good, fun games to do during the reception? FH and I agreed on the shoe game and said no to the dollar dance, but that's as far as we've gotten. Any suggestions?

I've never seen games at a wedding reception. All you really need is music, food and booze

Hard pass on reception games - leave those for the bridal shower.

If you enjoy them- then have them, but as a guest I hate sitting through them. I'd much rather be dancing, than finding out whether you, or FH are most likely to fall asleep first/first to apologize/make the first move...

We're having a separate area with card/board games for guests to play. I've heard of people doing picture scavenger hunts and having people post on Instagram with their filter. Ex: picture of the bride and groom hugging, picture of people laughing etc. And trying to get them all. Just an idea.

I think the shoe game would be enough

    What’s the shoe game??

I don’t really think games are necessary.

The only thing games are good for is time to allow guests to go to the bathroom and the bar.

When we were in middle/high school, my cousins and I would play card games at weddings. But that stopped once we were old enough to drink. Dancing and drinking are much more fun.

I did really enjoy playing giant jenga at a cousin's wedding a couple of years ago. She had the pieces as her guest book for the beginning of the evening and then they were moved over to a small table to play with later.

No games. They're awkward and most guests won't enjoy them as much as they would drinking and dancing.

I'd pass on games. Booze, a good DJ, and dancing are much more fun.

"Get drunk and bang H at home like we are horny teenagers" is my favorite.

I get bored easily, games would make me miserable. Don't make your guests sit through any games, it's enough to make them sit through speeches and dances.

The problem with the shoe game is that it stops the flow of the reception and forces people to participate who might not want to. I've always liked lawn games at a reception because they don't force you to play them. They're there if you want them but you can just ignore them if they're not your thing. I was going to have lawn games at mine but we ended up forgetting to bring them. I sort of wish we did as we had a lot of kids running around outside playing tag. They'd have probably loved it.

You should probably stick to just the shoe game. You dont want to take away too much time from the dancing part. Ps- make sure to keep the shoe game under 10minutes. The guest will really get a good laugh out of it.

My venue provides giant jenga, connect four, etc. But it's more for during the time the party is taking pictures and for kids.

Ive seen the shoe game at a wedding and it was cute but not necessary. He also did a surprise thriller dance with hired dancers. The bride was shocked and confused. She had never seen michael jacksons thriller before!! But it was fun and entertaining thats for sure!

My favorite game is drink as much as I can without pulling my husband into a closet for impromptu sex...

Seriously, it's a wedding not a family reunion. Save the games for a kid's party...
