Wedding gifts for the parents?

Zachary, on February 7, 2021 at 1:59 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 1 6

Hello Everyone!

I am starting to think a present to each parents on the day of the wedding would be super sweet and a cool way to show my appreciation for raising me and helping with the wedding.

I have 2 sets of parents: My mom and my adoptive dad(who is legally my dad and raised me) and my biological gay father and his partner. My dad is super straight and for lack of a better word "redneck" - but he is the sweetest man you will ever meet. Secondly, my biological father went through a lot coming out a year after I was born. He has always been there for me and has met the sweetest man to be his partner (which I consider like a father as well).

Has anyone done this or heard of this? What are some ideas I can give my parents on the wedding day?

I was thinking maybe:

Mom- finding a piece of jewelry my grandma wore and turn it into something pretty

For the other 3 guys - I was considering a personalized watch with inscribed message.

I would appreciate any help or ideas!

Z

It’s typical to give parent gifts the night before the wedding as a thank you for their love and support. They can really be anything that fits the person, just like bridal party thank you gifts. I would shop as if you are shopping for their birthdays except perhaps make it a bit more heartfelt. Your ideas sound great!

Gifts for parents are pretty common. Search etsy or pinterest for ideas, they have a bunch. I'm making my dad a pocket square made out of my late mother's favorite dress and embroidering a message on it and a picture of the two of us from when I was little etched onto a credit card sized metal piece that he can carry in his wallet. My step mother, who I love dearly, has always wanted a locket, so I'm getting her that with an engraving saying, "mucho mas" (so much more) which is how we've said I love you to each other since I was a kid.

Hi Zachary, I really like your ideas!! We bought a nice frame from Macy’s and put an engagement photo of us in it for each set of parents with a thoughtful card. I like your idea better though ❤️

I bought picture frames with our names & wedding date to give the parents. I also bought his mom & my stepmom ( my mother passed in 2018) a separate gift from Etsy & Amazon.

I plan on getting a tie patch with tie made from Etsy for my dad and FH dad, and a cute necklace for his mom and stepmom. Not trying to spend an arm and a leg while paying for the wedding ourselves and we might just make them a mini wedding album afterwards from Shutterfly!
