Wedding Giveaways?

Lauren, on June 7, 2021 at 2:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Has anyone had any luck with wedding giveaways? I went to a bridal show and even though I "won" several things, they all turned out to be scams for something else.

Are there places you guys look for these contests that are reputable?

If you have a more localized Wedding Expo company, they'll have more legit giveaways. There's a company here in NC that does wedding shows every season, and my fiance and I won stemless wineglasses/a bottle of champage and a free engagement photo session during one show. We also, with the help of our DJ, entered a giveaway with a local suit company and won suits for our groomsmen, so that's another route--keep looking at specific companies that may have giveaways. I would say to just verify the company giving the prize and see if there are any negative reviews or feedback about them.

Local companies are always more reliable than national contests. I also have entered a bunch of instagram contests. My FH and I just won a free couples video shoot to use on our website and play as people come in for the ceremony. The company was local and only had about 500 followers, so it was pretty good chances of winning.

I went to one of those bridal shoes and same thing. Week later after the shoe they called me saying I won all these prizes, but it turns out everyone wins them and you have to sit through a show where they try and pressure you to buy whatever their selling. Then you get the prize and realize it comes with all these strings attached. Like we won a free honeymoon we're we'd have to pay for the flights there and back and the honeymoon had like a million black out dates. Honestly I don't even answer anymore when they call and even blocked those numbers. It all just seems like a scam to me.

I've "won" Mary Kay packages from Expos but, I also won a certificate for Vitasteel Rings for $250 dollars off and it included a lifetime warranty. We got my FH's wedding band from it. Definitely, local companies are more likely to give real prizes than national brands.
