Wedding Guest Book

Traci, on June 1, 2024 at 11:39 PM Posted in Planning 2 11
So my fiance thinks we don't need a wedding guest book. I explained the importance of it. But he still thinks we don't need one. How could I get him on board?

    Hi Traci,

My hubby felt the same way about our up-coming vows renewal ceremony next month. We're having a small intimate 30th wedding anniversary celebration, that has turned into a mini-wedding, seems like..LoL. I explained to him that it would be fun to look at next year for our 31st anniversary along with the video. Our guest book will have a few lines for guests to write a brief comment. He thought about it and agreed, thankfully.

Is it a traditional guest book that he's opposed to? Maybe he would be more on board with a photo guest book, or a sports jersey for guests to sign, or Jenga pieces, etc?

Here's some ideas of unique guest books I found on Pinterest that could also be functional (either as artwork around your home, or something you can use):
    Wedding Guest Book 1
    Wedding Guest Book 2
    Wedding Guest Book 3

    Wedding Guest Book 4
    Wedding Guest Book 5

I agree with Lisa, maybe you could suggest an alternative (and more fun) form of “guest book”. Lots of people, like your husband, don’t see a purpose for a traditional guestbook. And when you think about it, it’s understandable – how many times are you going to open a book and look at peoples signatures? Probably never. But if you were to have guests sign a more creative item, you could display it in your home.

There’s a recent thread about alternative guest books. Maybe get some ideas there. Neither my husband nor I were at all interested in a regular guest book, but we love our signed photo mat. Find something that expresses your personalities!

When I was younger, I was a guest book attendant at my parents’ church and getting even one guest to sign was like pulling teeth. Even when the same guests attended multiple weddings, they would give it a .5 second glance and then move on to find seats. Based on that experience, we decided no books. Our photographer suggested setting up a photo booth near the entrance and it was a hit. Guests could get a photo with their partner and they kept a copy while the other was put in a scrapbook that they were excited to sign, based on feedback we received. If we had not gone the photo booth route, we would have skipped all alternative options entirely.

My mom got a guest book where people right their perfered contact info
Every time I had friends over as a kid, friends parents wrote their contact info
I saw things about 'interesting' guest books, but what I actually want is their contact info which you only get in an actual guest book.

I’ve noticed not many people even sign the guest books now a days. I would either try and think up something fun, like voice recording guest book, or something like that.

Wow Sarah that was a really sweet response. I feel the same way. But if he still does not want a book I could settle for something fun and different. You have encouraged me to try one more time.😇 Ty.
