Wedding guest turn out rate

Richaelyn, on May 14, 2021 at 5:32 PM Posted in Planning 1 10
For the people who have had weddings (guest amount over 50) since the pandemic started, how was your guest turn out? Did most of your guests come or not as many as you estimated? I’m hoping for my wedding, I have a full house. I would hate to walk down the aisle and see a lot of empty seats.

We invited 88 people but knew we'd have about 15 of those who couldn't make it because they were from out of state and either didn't have the financial ability or couldn't take that much time off work. We ended up with about 70 guests at the ceremony and about 60 stayed for the reception. Only 2 of those who left did so because of COVID concerns, and the rest left early because of other obligations. Since we knew before even sending the invites that we'd only have a max turnout of 75, it was almost a full house and definitely didn't feel empty. But honestly, you may not even notice seats at all when you're walking down the aisle. All I remember specifically noticing is exactly what I was looking at - my husband waiting for me with the world's biggest smile.

My wedding is next month and we have received all but 2 RSVPs. It's possible the number could change between now and then, but we invited 81 and we have 68 confirmed. Outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. My cousin's wife is pregnant and didn't feel comfortable being indoors so they're leaving after the ceremony. We talked to a majority of the guests before sending out invitations so I already had a good idea of who would and wouldn't come. All of the international guests declined, but we have friends and family who are traveling from California, Oregon, Texas, and Florida to Virginia. Most of these people take the pandemic seriously but really wanted to be at the wedding.

I’m extremely disappointed. Our wedding in April 2020 had 101 rsvp yes….and then the world stopped. Now our wedding is taking place next month and only 65 are coming. I am so upset over this.

Wow I would be disappointed too. Did you invite the same amount of people the second time?

We originally had almost everyone RSVP yes for our wedding in October but then almost everyone from my side of the family backed out of coming the night before the wedding due to Covid fears. It definitely put a damper on the celebrations.

We invited 113 and like all of FH aunts and cousins said no . . not bc of covid just bc they're weird with family functions lol so we turned out with 85 confirmed guests. wedding is next friday so we'll see how that turns out. hoping everyone actually shows.

We invited 133. With Covid still around we have 97 RSVP yes. Some didn’t bother to respond even though we sent save the dates; when we called to check in there was never a firm answer. Our venue when we booked back in 2019 contracts everyone for 125 guests. They were willing to work with us and charge us for 112 which was nice. FH added some people that were on our B and C list and we are now at 104. Our wedding is this coming Friday, we’ll see what happens and how many show. We will have a good time with the people who are there; that’s all we can do 🤷🏽‍♀️

I got married on July 31,2021 of this year. We were keeping it small of 75 guests and I had about 17 no shows, so we only ended up with a total of maybe 58/59 people and 11 of those were in our wedding party LOL!! There were so many whom were ready to come if people cancelled, so that is the part that pissed me off. I had people to fill in on the no shows if they would of given even a few days of cancel notice..SMH..It sucks and trust me my feelings are still hurt. It definatley wasn't the wedding I wanted..
