Wedding hair trial thoughts?

Lindsay, on July 27, 2021 at 11:47 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 17

What do y'all think of my wedding hair trial? I'm debating since I think it looks frizzy and not as skilled as the photos I gave for inspiration. The company says it just needs a blowout before styling. My bridesmaids think it looks great but I would love other opinions since they may be biased. Cost is $150. Brown hair is mine, blond is inspo. Please be honest! I want to know in advance if the stylist may not be skilled enough in this style or if it truly looks bad.

I think it looks really nice, and very similar! They also have a slight fuzzy halo, so it's not too different. The only real difference I can see is that yours seems thicker/heavier, and the braids slightly chunkier, but I think it looks really nice like that!

I agree with you that it looks a little bit messy with the fly-away hairs BUT bear in mind that the woman in your inspo picture has thinner hair than you, and, as the company said, you hair will look neater if you've had a blowout prior to styling.

With that in mind, I think your hair will look more similar to the inspo picture on the day of. Another thing to be mindful of, since your hair will loosen a little anyway, you can ask the stylist not to style it so loosely (i.e. deliberately 'messy' as in messy bun) so as to accommodate for your hair naturally giving way a bit as the day goes on.

It's definitely more frizzy but I like it! Maybe with the blowout it won't be as frizzy like the stylist stated, it's a really cute style though!

I honestly think it looks pretty! Yes, a lot of frizz but that inspo pic looked a little fizzy as well so maybe that's why they did it like that. I also think they might be right about blow drying the hair prior. They will probably add a little more product to combat the frizz come the day of when they're styling fresh hair.

I agree it looks frizzy. If it’s in your budget do another trial with the hair blown out. It will give you peace of mind and confidence going into the big day!

Yes it is frizzy, but mine was also frizzy after my hair trial in which the hair stylist reassured me that it will not be and will look neater for the day of the wedding. I felt comfortable after we discussed about it because knowing she only have a little over an hour to get it done (and I have a lot of hair plus it is thick).
I would suggest that if it would help make you feel better about it to schedule a follow up trial in order to get the actual visual look it will be for your wedding.

Yes, frizz. Do the blowout. As for the structure, I think it looks good and very close to the inspiration photo.

As a dark haired gal myself, I’ve learned to adjust my expectations a bit. They always get blonde models with so many highlights for these pictures, and the hair always looking like it has way more dimension than my off-black, one-tone hair will in these kinds of hairstyles.

It def. is frizzy, but I think it'll look better with a blowout before styling! Also something to keep in mind, you look like you have thicker/fuller hair than the inspo model, so your hairstyle will automatically look a lot bigger and fuller than hers, so the braids won't be as dainty as the inspo pic.

I think the style looks really great though!

Blond email frizz doesn't show as much as brown hair frizz. You have thicker hair than the inspiration photo, so your hair won't look quite like it. I think your trial looks similar to the photo but too frizzy. Every trial should prepare you to walk down the aisle same day, so if they don't practice how they play...I'd be concerned.

Honestly you need to find a new stylist! That is SO frizzy and they should have made it look nicer for the trial. To say you’ll just need a blowout for it to look better means they SHOULD have done the blowout in the first place to get the look you wanted. They seem unprofessional and not good enough. Definitely choose someone else! I love the look you’re going for tho don’t get me wrong! Just needs to be executed better! Especially for how much money you’re paying!

I honestly feel that it's a little too "messy" and doesn't look like a professional hairstyle. I'd be nervous after my trial if my hair wasn't EXACTLY the way I wanted it for my wedding. are you able to do a second trial with a blowout first to see what that looks like?

It is a bit frizzy but honestly i think it looks nice.

i am a person who has frizzy hair even when it is combed, so i feel like some people's hair is just like that

I'm thinking the same. I'm not sure it's able to be fixed if they thought this was quality work. I also had issues with the braids not staying up and I had to re-pin them myself about an hour after the trial.

Sounds like maybe they aren’t as experienced to know that your thicker hair needs more support. I would try to find another hair person with more experience!

I love this! I think I may do something like this as well. Maybe the hair piece with hair down. It's beautiful!

I agree with this comment. They should have done the blow out. The point of the trial is to see what it will look like for the wedding. It sounds like they cut corners and for me, that would be a deal breaker. I think it’s way too frizzy and messy for what you paid. I’d ask them to do it over at their cost or I’d look for a different stylist.

A wedding trial should produce the look you want the day of your wedding. Did the stylist offer to do the blowout for you to ensure the look you want? If not, I suggest finding someone else with more experience with your hair type. I have thick and curly hair, so I found someone with experience styling my hair type. Don't be afraid to ask for portfolio pics or sample pics. Remember, you are paying for a service on such a special day.
