Wedding hair??

Amber, on July 30, 2019 at 1:52 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6
So I have really straight hair that refuses to hold a curl but of course curly is my dream hair. It’s long and think and I don’t like my hair up because my ears kind of stick out and I don’t have a feminine neck I have a little bump at the back of my neck that I’m sensitive about. So any ideas for boring straight hair???

the pic is shortly after having my hair done and it just falls out and looks limp and full of hairspray

I have similar hair, refuses to hold a curl! Does yours work better when your hair is dirty? That works for me. Could you do some type of half up half down where your ears might still be covered?

I think half-up-half-down would be a great way to meet in the middle!

I've had this problem, my whole life. I find that my hair holds curl better when it's a little dirty. Not disgusting, 3-days unwashed kind of dirty. But a day or two (no more) after washing it, it wants to hold curl much better. I also keep some dry shampoo on hand for this situation, so I can let it go one more day, without it being stinky.

I also find that if I use a lot of the right products, I can get it to stay for more than an hour. Usually start with some kind of mousse, or volume control gel, then I curl very small amounts of hair at a time. If I grab a big chunk, it will fall out even faster. So, it takes time, and patience, but it usually works out pretty good. I spray each section with hairspray (strongest hold I can find), before curling it, as the heat from the curling iron kind of locks in the curl (at least for a while). When I've gotten all the curls in, and my hair is styled the way I want, I spray the whole thing again. You will end up with crunchy hair by the end of the night, but it should hold.

Weather conditions play a big factor in how long this curl stays. If it's humid, I usually don't even bother curling it, because nothing is going to hold it in that weather. But if not, this could hold for an entire wedding/reception I think.

Half up, half down may be the way to go here. Good luck!!

This is exactly my problem! And naturally, I too want the super curly look for my wedding. When I did my trial with my HMUA I asked her for suggestions; she said I was using the wrong products which weighed my hair down. I also did a lot of pinteresting and research myself to prep my hair. And the 1-2 dirty hair trick also helps me a lot! Good luck!

Have you tired a curling wand? When I used a traditional iron I was the same way, but the wand has really helped!
