Wedding Hangers

How many of you have a special hanger for your wedding dress? My photographer recommended I get a nice hanger for my wedding dress for when she takes photos. But that got me thinking, should I go the personalized route or just buy any "nice" hanger?

I bought a pack of wooden hangers from IKEA. A pack of 8 for 4 dollars, and a lot nicer than plastic. I'm going to give one to each bridesmaid, plus one for myself obviously, because I want the picture of our dresses hanging up together. But, I decided getting personalized hangers wasn't necessary. Who really wants to keep that anyway?

I did get the "mrs x" hanger and my dress photo did look pretty awesome. I got it fairly cheap through etsy and they were able to match the bow at the top to my bridesmaids' dress color. I also made hangers for each of my girls, jr b's and the mothers. I got a pack of 10 hangers at ikea and some paint at michael's. Their name across the top, date down one side and role down the other. They turned out rather sweet and since they were super cheap I'm fine with them not being used again...although who wouldn't use a wooden hanger, lol!

My plan was to make a glitter one as others have posted, but I ended up getting two of them at my shower. Not sure what I'll do with two.... But I'd let this linger to be a later purchase. You can always get a pack of wooden hangers.

I used glitter spray paint. I am pretty sure FMS used actual glitter.

It doesn't go anywhere. Though, I really wouldn't mind being glitterized on my wedding day, ha!

Wooden hangers & the spray paint I used.

ETA - I did paint mine with white acrylic paint first.

L&G I used glitter and glue then a clear coat of spray paint to seal it. Mine it more chunky since I used actual glitter and alyshandanielles would be more flat. The glitter stays on very well with mine. It was a super cheap and easy project so I recommend it!

I'm not doing any special hanger.. We're on a tight budget and I really could careless about the hanger in the photos ( you can crop that out )

Hangers were my first wedding purchase this time last year. And i recently bought a different one for myself that says Mrs. New Last Name. I originally got one that said Bride. I decided i don't want that one anymore.

I bought the Mrs. XXX with my date hanger off Etsy for $19.99. It was really cute and a fun thing to do. The pictures with it turned out really good.

The cons: The wire bent horribly when the seamstress doing the alterations touched it. So don't send it with that hanger, I did not think about it ahead of time. I fixed it as best I could.

DIY wedding hanger link at the bottom, but I like @Valarie's idea of just getting one that says Bride from Michael's with a coupon. I agree with Celia, another thing to suck money out of you http://www.somanysweets.com/2013/09/diy-wedding-name-hanger.html

Mrs. K thank you for posting a picture of your dress with a nice, basic wooden hanger. Seeing that has me sold, I'm using a basic wooden hanger.

Got them on Etsy (LOVE Etsy) pretty cheap. The ones with the names etched are for my daughter and step daughter's dresses.
