Nikki, on January 15, 2019 at 10:30 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 2
I need help creating a hashtag for our wedding. Our names are long and difficult, last names Villalobo & Rodriguez, what is a hashtag supposed to contain? And what is it used for? Thanks!

Hi Nikki!!! A wedding hashtag is used to compile any and all pictures that your guests might post on social media under one heading so you can more easily find them. For example, say that a couple uses the hashtag #SayIDoToSmith. If their guests post on Facebook any pictures of their wedding using the hashtag, all the Smiths have to do it search #SayIDoToSmith and the pictures or statuses should come up. Smiley smile

A hashtag can contain anything you want, but usually it includes at least one of the couple's last names. So for your wedding, you could do something like:

    #AVeryVillaloboWedding

    #VillaloboVows

    #ReadyToBeRodriguez

    #RodriguezAndRoll

You don't have to have a wedding hashtag. It's used on social media (usually instagram and facebook) to tag photos of your event on. That way when you click the hashtag you see photos that other people have taken. Ideally, you want a unique hashtag that hasn't been used otherwise your pictures will mix in with other strangers photos. Typically a wedding hashtag includes some kind of wedding phrase and the last name you are taking. A lot of people try to do a play on words or include a pun. For example, the last name Weber. A hashtag could be #ForWeberOrWorse
