Wedding Help

Courtney, on February 14, 2021 at 1:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hi everyone!

Is anyone else having trouble planning with everything still so unknown? My Fiancé and I had to postpone from last July due to the travel restrictions etc. in place and his family living in a different state. We are now planning on July 17, 2021 however I feel so lost planning again as this is technically the third venue change due to various circumstances as well. We are still very excited for our day and to get to spend it with those close to us, however I find myself wanting to decrease our guest list and find a smaller more intimate space just for us and those we are closest too (around 40 people). We already have our photographer, florist, dj, and caterer booked from previously but I have a hard time justifying spending so much on a venue with such a small guest list and the fact that I do not want our day filled with masks. Does anyone else feel this way or has anyone found any smaller more intimate options that are not super expensive? I have considered options along the lines of a waterfront airbnb but haven't been able to find any options that would work. I am looking in the Upstate, NY area for reference. Thank you!

Take a look at eventective.com and see if there are smaller venues in your area. Airbnbs and similar are currently banning weddings.

Sit down with fiance and focus on thing important to you and toss out the rest. Get restaurant corporate catering. A cake and flowers from the local grocery store. Be aware that you can find high quality alternatives at half the price if you avoid the word wedding.

Hi Courtney, I’ve been there with all the changes so I feel you!! If you are pleased with your current venue, may be nice to have the extra space to spread out for social distancing. Last summer, I was jealous of the brides with the backyard tent weddings as they had a lot of success not fussing with the venues. The posts were gorgeous of their weddings!! Our DJ and florist said most weddings last year they did were beautiful backyard weddings.

Hi Courtney! I am in the same exact boat as you. We are re-planning our wedding for Oct 2021 and even changed venues so now instead of being in an indoor ballroom, we are at a new venue that has a large patio if we need to do an outdoor reception. My thoughts right now are to continue planning for a 100 person wedding, but if necessary (and I'm thinking it probably will be) to downsize to 50 people, and use our venue's large patio to spread out our guests and allow for dancing. I agree, it is frustrating to spend the money on everything that would have been for a larger guest count, but at this point I am sick of re-scheduling the big wedding and just plan on using the new gorgeous venue for a small wedding!

Hi Meghan! I am glad I am not the only one feeling this way. It can be overwhelming trying to figure things out over and over again. We originally had a list of 150 guests that we cut down to 100 but are thinking of cutting it in half once again. Thank you!

Vicky, considering the 40 people I am referring to include close family we already see on a regular and will would most likely be outside yes.
