So, obviously its inevitable that something will go wrong. Outside of family drama, bridesmaids dresses and upside down envelopes i figure other's have to have some pretty good horror stories. At my best friend's wedding it ended with the groom's brother's GF's attacking the groom, drawing blood, and then go running down the highway which we had to call the cops to go after her. I figure hopefully mine could never be that bad, but i would love to hear your other horror stories Smiley smile

I worked at a Hotel and we hosted several weddings. I saw quite a bit...

-Bride literally beat up one of her bridesmaids in the hallways minutes after the ceremony while they were heading to the courtyard for pictures. We had to call the cops on her. I sent a server to go over and be nosey turned out the BM called the bride fat in her dress and the bride flipped... a lot alcohol was involved.

-Then we had a GM (different wedding) get so drunk he was climbing on all the cars in the parking lot- setting off alarms- saying he was spiderman. haha that was my favorite.

There is a book called "OMG! Wedding Stories -- Hilarious, Embarrassing, Shocking & Outrageous Wedding Stories" compiled from stories submitted by B&G and wedding pros.

One of the stories is mine and involves dead fish in the centerpieces (which is why I recommend couples not do it when someone asks here on WW).

I was the horror story. Twice...

The night before my cousin had her bachelorette party. It was a low key affair. We went to dinner, went back to my aunt's house, watched classic movies, and had a sleepover. The next morning I woke up feeling awful. I had the worst stomach bug. I tried to get my hair done and that was a chore. I tried to get ready for the wedding and that didn't happen. Luckily my aunt lived close to the venue. My father took me to one of those walk in clinics and they told me it was a stomach bug. I missed the ceremony and slept at my aunts. I insisted I at least make an appearance at the reception. I put on a nice sweater and pants (I couldn't put on the bridesmaid gown) and drag myself to the venue. Then the food came out and I couldn't hold it. I ran to the bathroom. The attendant probably thought I was drunk as a skunk! I go back to my aunt's and slept for twenty four hours.

Fast forward a few months and a friend of mine is getting married. She insists I wear the dress I was supposed to wear as a bridesmaid to my cousin's wedding. I show up to the wedding and realize I match the bridal party pretty closely. Same color, slightly different dress! I was mortified! I'm sure people thought I was trying to be part of the party! Luckily my now fiancé let me wear his jacket to hide the dress. I know my friend was okay because she approved it, but I was mortified!

It wasn't as bad as some, but it was mortifying to me. Also, they were both lessons on how to be gracious brides. My cousin and aunt took care of me until they had to leave for the wedding and were glad I made even a half hour of the wedding. My friend insisted I wear the gown knowing I'd match because she felt bad I spent money on a dress I'd never wear.

Not a horror story for me but I'm sure it was for my cousin.

At my cousin's wedding a few years ago she almost fainted right before she said "I Do". It was raining that day so their church had all the windows shut so the place was starting to get hot. And I'm sure it didn't help that she was pregnant with her twin daughters at the time. Their pastor did the whole "Do you take Marc to be......(you know how it goes)" and all my cousins said was "I do, but I really need to sit down because I'm so hot and I feel like I'm going to pass out".

The whole ceremony was so boring up to that point so we loved that excitement.

They just celebrated their 4th anniversary and she said that's all everyone remembers from her wedding!

At my best friend wedding this weekend, when we got there in the morning to set up the venue manager told her the venue was double booked and tried to pay her to have her wedding in the hallway. 200+ people mind you. Also the concert that was also booked was the air force band which he was trying to tell us we wouldnt be able to hear. The bride and groom shot that down quick. And everything else went pretty smoothly until during the ceremony no one had grabbed the grooms ring so we had to stop the ceremony to get it. There wasn't enough food for the reception, the caterer didn't bring water or tea. Thankfully most people didn't notice.

My step-aunt got so wasted that my brother had to restrain her, lock her in his car, carried her into the room she was staying in at his house, and threaten to send her to the drunk tank (he is a sheriff's deputy) if she didn't straighten up. She was supposedly a 10 year sober recovering alcoholic and God fearing woman who was cussing out everyone from my father (her step-brother) to my grandmother and even her own son.... The sunday brunch was definitely awkward!

I cannot BELIEVE the one about the bride sending the MOH around for better checks! What happened to her after the wedding?

Laura, if you're referring to my comment, I have no idea. I was "friends" with the groom through my college roommate's brother who was in the bridal party.

One of my friends was a bridesmaid and was bringing her expensive bridesmaid dress home. When she got home she realized it was missing from her car ( a convertible )..

She retraces her steps and stops by at the out door car wash and asks to see the surveillance video.

The staff at the carwash play the video for her... To her surprise as she was vacuuming out the car.. A shady man snuck up and swiped the dress when she wasn't looking. The staff at the carwash instantly recognized the man saying " oh, that's joe.. We hire him for odd jobs"

One of the staff brought her around the corner to the parking lot where he frequents and saw Joe and the dress on top of a big pile of a grocery cart full of misc items.

She demanded joe to give back her dress and that she had proof he stole it... (He wouldn't give it to her)

So she then gave him $60 as an "award" for "finding" it.

This story isn't too bad, but @Valarie, I was at a DW in Jamaica.. it was on the beach and it was very windy, but it was nice because it was hot out. What wasn't nice was the very old and overly tanned old man in a speedo standing on the beach gawking at the bride walking down the aisle. Here we were supposed to look at the bride, and all I could do was stare at the creepy old man!

Oh my gosh these are the best! Absolutely following.

Also, I told FH that I am so glad we are the first to get married in our circle (we're in our early 20s) so that we get to attend every wedding and experience this sort of thing together. It's going to be great.

My cousin's wedding was in PA, where we grew up. She and her hubby live in CA, so she hired a wedding planner to take care of everything. She found out a week before the wedding that the planner had not bothered to confirm any of their vendors. Found out two days before the wedding that the planner had never found an officiate. The night before the wedding when the bridal party all went to the church for rehearsal and to decorate, the planner showed up with no supplies or ideas for the space, started sending the party out to get things (my cousin and her groom met in the Army, so all but two of us were from different parts of the country/world and had no idea where to go for things) and then said she was going to go get an arch. She returned five hours later with no arch and no excuses. We were all very, very late to the rehearsal dinner, which my cousin cried through most of, and she's a pretty tough cookie! One of the BM stayed at the church for six hours and took over the decorating. My aunt threw together some pew decorations overnight. The wedding planner showed up to the ceremony but spent it all on her phone, and afterwards tried to tell my family that we weren't allowed to take pictures. She then came to the reception just long enough to grab a doggie bag of food and cake. None of us knew how little this horrible woman had actually done till the night before the wedding. I was pretty livid, so I gave myself a week to cool down before politely emailing her, asking that she refund all or part of my cousin's money. I listed the services that were paid for and how she failed to fulfill them. She never responded to me, but I later found out that she went crying to my cousin asking why I was mad. She never refunded any of their money.
