Wedding in September, Marathon in November - how do i avoid tan lines!?

Luz, on December 12, 2019 at 4:15 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 8

Help!! I am getting married in September and also planning on running a marathon in November (requires 16-18 weeks of training). My wedding will be smack in the middle of training, and training outside is a must (atleast twice a week).

How do I avoid the tan lines with August/September sun?! How do I cover these up?

Long sleeve and lots of sunscreen for neck and face? Or possibly a spray tan?

Definitely sunscreen but I would also suggest getting a variety of shirt/sports bra styles. If you wear the same style every day you will definitely get obvious lines in those spots but mixing it up helps. A spray tan a week or so before your wedding should help too! Good luck with the marathon, that sounds really hard lol

I agree with PP. Long sleeves if that works for your climate, or vary your tops/bras. Of course, always protect your neck/face with sunscreen. Good luck with the marathon! 👏

I usually wear no less than spf 50 when I run, sometimes 75. I like the neutrogena sport dry spray.

Due to skin cancer issues a family member wears sun protective clothing (Coolibar is one brand he really likes) and it does a GREAT job of protecting his skin, while still being lightweight and breathable. Otherwise, it seems like your only option is a LOT of sunscreen.

I’m running NYC & Chicago (Oct & Nov) and my wedding is end of August.

Tbh after the last 2 years training for NYC - ideally I’ll be done with training runs before the sun comes up. Training in the summer sun is brutal anyway!! When I do have to run in daylight, I’m loading up on sunscreen and saving the tanning for the beach days.
Best of luck with your race!!

Definitely lots of sunscreen. You can also use self-tanner to fill in the tan lines. Otherwise I’d check with your makeup artist. I would think they should be able to help fill in the blanks, especially if you’re getting airbrush makeup.

    Sunscreen!

And you can also get really lightweight poly/poly-blend shirts to wear while running. I have a couple light colored, loose fitting shirts, and when the sun is intense I find I actually feel cooler wearing them then just wearing sunscreen and a tank top.

You should also try running early or later in the day when the sun is less intense. It's usually much cooler and more comfortable in the mornings for long runs too.
