Ask your venue!! Most venues do not require it as they already have policies. Don't just go off your checklist.

My venue has insurance and laughed when I asked them.

We used eventhelper.com. We're getting married in south Florida at the end of hurricane season so I insisted on getting it. Better safe than sorry!

Don't let a scoff from your venue put you off of wedding insurance. They may be covered for liability (something gets damaged, or someone gets hurt), but if you wind up canceling (god forbid), that same venue will sure as shit come after you for whatever you contractually owe. Wedding cancellation insurance will cover you for that unfortunate outcome, as well as if something happens with one of your non-venue vendors. I've seen policies that even include several sessions of therapy in the event of cancellation. For sure at least look into it.

Wedding insurance covers you. The venue's insurance covers them. They're two different things, and ideally you should have both.

You can get it through your insurance provider (usually) and the sooner you get it the more you will save. Basically it covers damages, if the dress gets destroyed before the wedding you're covered, if your venue falls apart you're safe...that's how mine is anyway. You can also get cancelation insurance just in case. I didn't do that.
