Wedding invitation tissue paper?

Lauren, on January 17, 2017 at 11:55 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6

I just ordered my invitations so that I can get ready to send them out in just a few days. I picked out a rather simple design but something that was cute as FH and I are VERY near our budget. However, when I showed them to my mom she said they should have been fancier and should have tissue paper in them and that's "just how it's always been". lol I am unsure of what the tissue paper is used for or where I can get it. I just ordered flat invites that don't open up or anything like that. Does the tissue paper wrap around it? Or is it just an insert? Is this something I should be super concerned about? I haven't ever gotten an invite with tissue paper in it. Any advice?

Not sure where you can get it but it's definitely a thing. It's usually included in formal invitations. Do you have inner and outer envelopes? If not I think it's a waste.

I didn't use any in mine. No one even noticed.

When she says "fancier and have tissue paper," that's a complete concept that shouldn't be separated. More casual invitations don't need it, the "fancier" invites she wants you to have do. Is she paying for it? Because if not, I'd just say something like "I just really love this design, I think it's great just the way it is."

    ETA: grammar

It's just a little sheet of tissue that's used to prevent smudging. It's not necessary anymore to prevent the smudging, but it wouldn't be weird if you chose to include it. I didn't ask for it, but it was included with the ones I ordered when I opened the box.

No, she is not paying for it. That's pretty much what I told her, but then I started wondering if I should have it. I don't have inner envelopes. I think I will just leave them the way they are. Nobody is going to decide not to attend because of tissue paper. Haha. Thanks for the input ladies!
