Wedding Invitations - ceremony & reception at the same place with a cocktail hour between

maggie, on April 4, 2017 at 1:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone had any wording tips? We are holding our ceremony and reception at the same venue with a cocktail hour in between while they flip the large room. So essentially, everyone will join in the larger room for the ceremony, then be dismissed for a cocktail hour in the smaller room (meanwhile the large room will flip for the reception), and then guests will be invited back to large room for the reception.

Has anyone done the same thing and have any tips/tricks or suggestions on wording for the invitation?

None of that needs mention on the invite, only the place and of the ceremony and a "reception to follow" line

We are doing the same thing, one venue ceremonies and receptions are popular. My invite just had the venues information with the ceremony time and then it said Dinner and dancing to follow.

    I think they will understand

On the bottom, you just write "reception to follow".

Same situation. Our invites will say "Reception to follow". I recommend having a DOC or designated person directing guests to wherever they are supposed to be (from wedding to cocktail area and then back in the same area when it's time for dinner).

Since everything is at the same venue, "Reception to follow" is enough! Have your DOC and the wait staff help guide people to the right space for cocktail hour!

We did "dinner and dancing to follow," but we also included a reception card. Our ceremony and reception are at the same location, but the ceremony is outdoors and the reception is in a building in a different area on the grounds.

    Reception to follow is fine.

Same situation, same advice. I did add the locations to my website as well for more clarity.

Ours were in the same location just a sidewalk away, and we only put the address with "reception to follow" On our website we listed the address for both the reception and the chapel but the invitations only need that simple statement!

You said the guest will go to a smaller area for cocktail hour. Not sure how many people you are planning to have but be sure there is room to walk about and people are not bumping into each other to get through the crowd.

Yeah I agree with all the ladies who have answered already- "reception to follow" on the invites. Will you have programs so they know what's going on or will someone be telling people where to go and what for? Just avoid any confusion for your guests. In my opinion they are essentially a "herd" lol pardon my use of the word- and need organization to keep everyone safe and on schedule with your timeline.
