Wedding invitations

Sarah, on July 13, 2021 at 11:26 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13
I was wondering if it would be acceptable to hand deliver wedding invitations to family and friends who will be in town this weekend for my bridal shower?

Invites have been hand delivered since the dawn of time. It is perfectly acceptable to continue doing so.

Definitely acceptable and it will save money on postage, go for it. I hand delivered a bunch of our reception invites and mailed to only the people who I don't see on a normal basis!

That is good to hear. I didn’t want it to be considered tacky that I’m hand delivering them instead of mailing them to those who are coming in for my bridal shower.

I know some cultures primarily hand deliver to every home of their guests. You can further ask the shower host for the guest list to double check there are no non-guests in attendance. It would be quite awkward to watch everyone else get an invite in front of you.

That is what I was thinking about. I just wanted to get everyone’s opinions, to make sure that was not tacky to do.

As far as I know, all of the girls attending the shower are invited to the wedding. Now my soon to be sister in-law’s female roommate might be there, that’s the only non person who may be at the shower and not invited to the wedding.

I don't think it's tacky at all! I personally like it when things are hand delivered, and I enjoy seeing everyone's reactions when I hand them a letter/note/card

Yeah, it's a nice idea to invite family and friends by hand delivery. Nowadays most people prefer a digital way of invitation. But I like to invite friends and family directly by sharing the invitation card. We friends planned a one-day trip to invite all our distant friends and colleagues to my sister's wedding ceremony. We prepared a simple and elegant wedding postcard design including bride and groom cartoon images etc.

We mailed out the invitations to those who live far away and hand delivered rest of the invites who live close. We are also creating a Facebook event page.
