    Contrary to this article, I'd always heard the veil was supposed to protect the bride from evil spirits.

    Thank you so much for sharing this article! So interesting to read the origins of some of these traditions and the reasons behind them.

    The one about how "the best man was responsible for making sure the groom was able to take the bride away in the event that her parents disapproved of him" was most shocking to me!
