Wedding night

So I read an article that about 50%couples don't have sex on wedding night. I found this to be pretty sad but believable. Any ladies experience this?????

We didn't, we were too tired and too drunk.

I can totally believe that number. DH and I managed to 'do the nasty' but then we had an early wedding and no alcohol, so no reason (except excitement!) we should be too tired.

I can believe it. I want too but I won't be that disappointed if we don't. I rather go with the flow of things.

I agree with most of the women above. I haven't discussed this in length with FH but we will probably be way to tired the night of... However, upon waking up the next morning... I'm sure there will be much sexy time for the happy couple.

Me and my husband (smiles) left the reception around 8:30 made it to the hotel around 10:30 and we were both still on cloud nine, our marriage was Def consummated on our wedding night!

It's possible, some couples are tired or too drunk. I mean in this day and age most people have had sex before getting married so it's not a rush do it because you haven't before type of thing

I kind of thought we might not since we'd be so exhausted and we've already been together for 10 years, but we definitely did. It was awesome lol. You only have one wedding night after all! I was up at 7am that day getting ready, our reception ended at 11pm, we were drunk and the afterparty went until 3am, but it was definitely worth being extra tired in the morning!

There was also a belief ( in the same article) that couples already have premarital sex and so the anticipation is little to none which fuels that energy for the wedding night.

Honestly, I think that 50% is kind of high, in another article that I read a while ago, the number was lower, 30% of couples had sex on the wedding night.

Did not have have sex on the wedding night with my first husband, it was late, it took so long to get out of my dress, and to get all the bobby-pins out of my hair.

FH is hopeful that we will have sex on our wedding night, this is coming from the man who fell asleep at 6:30pm last night and can barely stay awake past 10pm on a regular night.

This is surprising to me too! Everyone has their own thoughts about it and that's okay! It's totally up to you guys, but I don't think it's sad not too. We've been together for 5 years and it's not like we haven't. But I have had some friends in the same boat and they chose to stop doing it a month or so before the wedding just to have that excitement and a little of the new feeling! And I love that idea, just sharing. Smiley smile

This is funny that you asked bc that's one of the main reasons why I opted for a early cermoney and reception. We will have plenty of time to regain the energy

We are waiting, and I honestly feel no pressure with whether or not we're going to do it that night. If we have time that's great but if not that's ok, too Smiley smile We'll just wait till the next day!! No pressure. I'll just be excited to be married!

There are, of course, couples who do wait till marriage to have sex, a couple of whom are on this board, and are good friends. I'd be interested to find out if they were too tired, or if they stayed up to have a little sexy time.

Yeah we held out, and are very glad we chose to. :-) It actually affected how we scheduled the wedding. We didn't have a bar, open or closed. We were outta there at like 7:30. We didn't tell people to leave--just that we were leaving. It wasn't even dark out yet.

Looking back I wish we would have sprung for the bar. Our guests had to travel an hour and a half to get to our venue so it would have been nicer to do this for them after all that travel. We'll probably go all out at our 15, 20, or 25 anniversary party.
