Wedding Nightmares?

Bippy, on August 14, 2021 at 11:18 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11
My wedding is less than 50 days away and, while I used to have the occasional bad dream about something going horribly wrong with the wedding, I am now having these dreams almost every night. It’s always the same: either I’ve forgotten to do something major and don’t realize it until I’m about to walk down the aisle or the guests don’t enjoy any part of the wedding and have a terrible time. (It’s pretty clear I have some underlying insecurities and anxieties!) I guess I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how you dealt with it or maybe even remedied it?

I feel like it's normal for brides to stress and have these dreams. I've personally had them and I've also seen other brides mention that they've had nightmare dreams about their wedding. I honestly just dealt with it as it's only a dream. I didn't stress about the dreams

Every. Single. Night. Sometimes they are really dumb ones (our officiant forgets her notes or my finances niece is loud the entire ceremony) and sometimes it's really bad (a family member gets COVID the day before, my sister goes into labor at the wedding). Either way, I need sleep to not be so stressed, but these dreams are making it hard to get a full night's rest! We have less than 50 days, too...I hope everything goes well for you!

I am 28 days out until our wedding, and last night I had three nightmares about things going wrong at my wedding! I’m sure it’s because I’m the kinda person that wants everything just right lol but I kinda shook it off because I heard it’s normal getting this close! So my only advice is to not let it bring you down!

Unfortunately, there's no real remedy (or at least not one I found) for the nightmares. I will suggest stepping back from planning for a date night or a girl's night or a spa day or whatever relaxes you. When you do that, make sure that anyone who's with you knows that you are stepping away from the wedding for a while, and that you don't want to talk about it. Stepping away from the planning will help your brain relax some.

I'm sure it's normal. I think what has me disturbed is it's every night. I need to take your approach!

Oh my god, mine are often seriously absurd! I had one once where Nazis invaded our town like an hour before the wedding! Another one involved my uncle doing my hair. I mean, some are so stupid, they're funny. But the ones where my tailor totally ruins my dress or guests are talking the entire time through the ceremony...those get to me!

I'm that way, too! I'm also the type who feels like if I'm not two steps ahead of schedule, I'm behind, so being in this phase where there's still more to do to prepare but I can't until it's closer to the date is pretty rough. I'm sure that's contributing. Best wishes to you!

Girl, I'm like 180 days out and I have one of these at least once a month. Not looking forward to when the date starts to get closer x,x
