Wedding on 1/9/2021

My husband and i are set to get married on 1/9/2021. We are literally 12 days out! I literally made final payments on everything this week and my husbands groomsmans have began picking up their tuxedos. Now my Uncle who is our wedding coordinator wants is to push our wedding date back due to my uncle & aunt ( his brother & sister) has caught covid. My uncle was suppose to marry us which my husband has already found someone new to replace him. Now my mother is threaten to back out if the numbers in NC keep raising. They want us to wait till mid-summer when vaccines are made available to everyone. As the bride & groom we feel As it is inconvenient and inconsiderate to wait this close to tell everyone that we are pushing it back. My husband and i want to go ahead with our wedding and plan to cut the guest list. What do u guys we should do?

I would say discuss it with your fiancé and decide what you guys really want. Will your venue let you postpone at no charge?

I’m so sorry about your uncle and aunt!! Hope they recover quickly!! If it were me, and me and my fiancé want to move forward with your date, I would and I’m confident you already are, but ensure every precaution is in place.

I know how important it is for family to be there but I am sorry 12 days out I would not push it back. Also, everyone is putting a lot of stock into this vaccine and we do not know how effective it will be. I honestly would not cancel. I am sorry for your uncle as that is unfortunate and I would explain to your mom the situation and hope she will be there in support no matter what. I hope 12 days out they do not shut you down. I am sorry hun.

Totally agree with everyone- you’re 12 days out, that’s too close to push things out. If it was 12 weeks, than we would be having a different conversation.

I'm coming from a different perspective I guess, but if multiple members of your family have already tested positive, what are the chances others in your family are positive too?? Didn't this aunt and uncle see a lot of your family over the holidays...Christmas was just a few days ago. And remember it takes a few days before symptoms start.

I would personally postpone if at all possible. I agree it's pretty late, tbh numbers have been rising so rapidly for about two months now I wouldn't have risked it and would have postponed a month or two ago.

These are distant relatives who were not originally invited to began with. My other uncle who is our wedding coordinator invited them to be apart of the wedding party against my wishes. We do not need them and they have be replaced.

Unfortunately our wedding venue was shut down by the state for violating covid guidelines so we have to postpone our wedding anyhow 😭 we were literally 5 days away

Terri, I am so sorry this has happened to you. Our ceremony location was not possible 10 days before our wedding and I wouldn’t wish that stress on anyone. I am so sorry. Thinking of you and your fiancé ❤️

We have pushed it April 24th 😭 maybe this is best because we started having issues with vendors and guest due to covid
