Wedding Parasols Before Ceremony

mel, on August 9, 2017 at 3:32 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12

Anyone providing parasols to guests for use before the ceremony starts? Our venue is outdoors with no shade so I'm looking for cheap parasols if the guests want them. Wedding is in 24 days so shipping from China isn't going to work. How much did you pay, what size, where'd you get them, etc.

Where are you located? Hopefully the reception will be inside?

You can get them on amazon, but honestly, that's not going to do much for their comfort if it's hot and sunny.

Can you rent a tent and some fans for air movement? I think that would be a much more effective use of your money than cheap parasols, especially when you're talking about an unshaded, summer wedding in California. If you are having an outdoor reception as well, that's even more reason to invest in a tent and fans.

Yeah as someone who got a BAD sunburn even with a parasol at an outdoor wedding last summer (i am usually super anal about sunscreen but i didn't know we'd be outside that day and for that long) i would suggest trying to find a place for the ceremony/waiting that provides a bit of shelter from the elements.

The Paper Lantern Store online has good prices.

I went to an outdoor wedding last summer when it was about 90 degrees. There were only a few large umbrellas and I was only half under one (many had nothing to shade them) but the parts that were under it were comfortable. I think the parasols will work as long as everyone can have them.

$100 for parasols vs. $1000+ for a tent. If we had the budget for a tent I would not be asking about parasols.

Anyone else purchase parasols and if so where, what size, how much?

    Thank you.

Save your money. Parasols are not going to help.

Consider fans? My local Michaels sells paper ones in packs of 10 or 15.

It won't look very nice but 99 cent stores near me usually have umbrellas for a few dollars each. Black ones should block the sun a bit but it wouldn't look very nice in photos.

Amazon might be able to help. But better planning would have helped more.
