Wedding Party Only Rehearsal Dinner

Ashley, on April 16, 2022 at 6:53 PM Posted in Parties and Events 1 3
My fiancé and I are having a small wedding next year in a town a little over an hour away from where we- and most of the guests live. We are hosting a welcome cocktail party the night before the wedding after the rehearsal dinner. Neither of us are particularly close to our family but my fiancés dad and siblings are attending, so my question is, is it rude to only have our wedding party at hour rehearsal dinner and then host everyone else at the cocktail party after?

A rehearsal dinner is traditionally only for the couple and the wedding party (plus their significant others). Parents and siblings are optional, especially if there is no relationship and they are not actively participating in the ceremony.

A welcome party for traveling guests is 100% optional and is a separate unrelated event.

The only people you have to invite to the rehearsal dinner are the ones involved in the actual rehearsal. Usually parents and siblings are invited, but if they don't have a role in the wedding/ rehearsal and aren't paying for the wedding then you don't need to invite them.
