Wedding party proposals

Brianna, on March 18, 2021 at 8:26 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 14
I’ve been on Pinterest and Amazon for a couple of weeks but I want something that really stands out to ask my close family and friends to be in my wedding party, any ideas?

You could do something fun, like a customized puzzle that asks them to be in your wedding party, or a framed picture of you and the person you're asking with a handwritten note, or you could take each person out to lunch or out for coffee individually and ask in person! I personally would advise against putting together expensive/elaborate proposal boxes, just to avoid any potential pressure for them to say yes. Check out Etsy as well for small tokens that you can give to them to ask!

I bought the majority of my ladies gifts from Etsy. Totes, makeup bags & bracelets. I bought them sterling silver earrings from a farmer’s market. I work at a hospital & the gift shop had a clearance sale so I bought specialty soaps & jams to put in the totes. Most expensive thing I bought was an olive oil & balsamic vinegar set for each. I bought some thank you cards from hallmark that I’m going to write a personal note to each.

Thanks! I’m super excited to give them their gifts in a week! I bought things along the way since last year- I didn’t want to get hit all at once.

When I asked my ladies, I got a tote bag that said bridesmaid (or maid of honor), and I put a small bottle of prosecco, a champagne glass (hard plastic), a fake flower from the dollar store, some photos of me with that person over the years, and a handwritten card explaining how much they mean to me and how I would be honored to have them by my side at my wedding. I then took each girl out individually and asked (except for 1 who lives far away and I wasn't going to see in person anytime soon, so I mailed hers). I think the sentimental parts are more important than expensive gifts. I got the tote bag and champagne glasses from TJ Maxx, so they were cheap.

I made my bridal party wedding cake gift boxes with a note inside. I only recommend if you are a diy-er lol. They were paper gift boxes but looked and were decorated like a wedding cake with paper supplies & puff paint. Looked great but took a while.

I made little gift boxes when asking my Brides Maids.

Each gift box had a picture of us, with a card I got off Etsy that they had to scratch off to get to the question of "will you be my bridesmaid/maid of honor" and I taped a penny to all them (they were a huge hit lol) I also wrote personal messages to each one of my girls elaborating on how much they meant to me and why I was asking them.

I got $6 water bottles from Target and used my Cricuit to put their names on them in Vinyl. I also got a pack of hair ties off of amazon (came in a set of 6) that were on a paper backing that said "i can't tie the knot without you" a face mask, and a candle.

Edit to add: I was gonna make FH boxes for his groomsmen, I was planning on getting them each a shooter of alcohol I know they like, a cigar and a cigar cutter. But FH is not as DIY or Sentimental as I am so he just straight up asked all his guys one night when they were all together lol

I've been a bridesmaid a couple times and both times I was asked over coffee without boxes of stuff. That felt more sincere because there was no pressure to say yes. I glanced at the boxes online for a minute. For the ladies in my circle they would get tossed out or donated because they are less girly than me. One less major expense.

Also you don't need to ask anyone before 6 months before the wedding. The forums have countless posts of brides who asked over a year before saying their relationships would not change and nearly all of them did. There really isn't anything they need to do before 6 months.
