Wedding party standing during first dance?

Zanetah, on August 26, 2022 at 6:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hi! I’m wondering does the wedding party have to stand for the first dance? I’m asking 1. Cause my parents are older and I want to minimize their time spent standing..and 2. We have 14 in our bridal party Idk how I feel having all of them in the floor during that moment. If that makes sense lol I’m curious to hear if others are doing grand entrances and are you having your bridal party stand there through the first dance? Or having them go to their seats? I’m contemplating having them all stand till introductions are done and have them seated when we move into the first dance. Would love to hear perspectives!

Are you going into your first dance right after the grand entrance? If so, they can do introductions and go to their seats right after. For us, we did grand entrance and dinner after.

Typically everyone is at their seats for dinner during your first dance.

We're doing the grand entrance right into our first dance, our parents and bridal party will be standing on the floor for our first dance then after we'll all go sit and our respective spots for dinner.

This is just what works for us, but honestly there's no right or wrong way to do this, it's whatever works for you and your wedding!

I’ve never seen a wedding party stand during the first dance. I think it’s fine (and likely expected) for them to sit

    Ours went to their seats.

Personally I think it’s really weird to have the wedding party stand around you for your first dance. I saw a bride do this before and it was really awkward. My sister was one of her bridesmaids and she concurred that it was weird and awkward. The bride was known to be a bit of a diva (and kind of a bridezilla throughout her entire engagement) and wanted them standing around like that for the attention on her.

For us we will have them standing until all is Introduce then after we come in they will be seated so we can have our first dance. And your parents dont have to be standing have them to be escorted to there seats. And we are having each of them come in on a club or rap song song to keep up the engery in the room and we are coming in on a club song. I hope that this help happy planning

You can definitely have them get introduced and then go to their tables to sit down. Just make sure to communicate that to your DJ/ wedding party beforehand so they know what to do.
