I would wait until 10-12 months before the wedding to ask. There’s no rules about age, but I would generally consider 9-15 a good age for a junior bridesmaid, depending on maturity.

I think it depends on if you are doing a destination wedding or not. If you are, letting them know soon we then later would be good so that they have as much time as they can to save for it. If it's not a destination wedding I would go with what Caytlyn said with the 10-12 months

I'd definitely wait until you're within a year. If you're having a destination wedding, I'd still wait to ask them, but I'd try to make sure they know you want them to attend the wedding - so talking details about timing, cost, etc. could be a good idea.

I had a very long (3.5 year) engagement so I asked 13-14 months before because I had a longgggg time to think about my friendships and who I'm close enough with. So I think 12-14 months before is smart, so that you only ask people you are currently close with and its less likely any of your friendships will start to fade out. For a junior bridesmaid - under age 16. My junior bridesmaids were 12 and 14

I agree with PPs on waiting until about a year before the wedding to ask. Relationships and friendships can change within this timeframe!

I’m doing a DW and I asked my bridal party before I booked it. Now I am also getting married in 2021 but I wanted to give everyone time to be able to decide if they wanted to make the trip.
