Wedding photographer breaking contract

on October 2, 2020 at 7:16 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
Need some advice. Our wedding photographer was punctual on the day of the wedding and seemed nice enough. At the wedding, she promised me sneak peaks of our photos that Monday- and stated full albums will be completed in 4-6 weeks MAX. (Our signed contract says 8 weeks maximum tat)
Long story short our sneak peaks never came the following week, or the week after, or the week after. I had to message her multiple times just asking for the sneaks, but eventually we finally received them.
Upon receiving them I realized she did not include a single photo of any of my bridesmaids or our parents/grandparents. I was aggravated but it was just a preview so I sucked it up. 6 weeks after the wedding was my mother’s birthday- I messaged her asking if she didn’t mind to upload 1 single photo of my mother and I so I could gift it for her. She promised she would, I messaged to remind her- my moms bday came and went and not a word from photographer. Again- aggravating but whatever, I can deal. The 8 weeks mark came and we still don’t have our album. I messaged her again, she stated that they would be done at the “two month mark” and gave an exact date for delivery, which was a few days later. Our contract does state 8 weeks, but I wasn’t going to argue over logistics of 8 weeks VS 2 months. I said okay can’t wait to see them. Well that date has now also come and gone and we stilll haven’t received images. But she’s posting a new session she’s shooting multiple times a day. I have about 70 out of the 500+ that our signed contract promises. I just don’t know what to do, it’s very frustrating to have to continue to bug someone you hired professionally and expected communication from. Also, I am afraid that if I continue to push, I could sacrifice image quality or quality. What would you do? My bridesmaids and hubby want me to continue to contact her and maybe even ask for a portion of our $$ back for the breech in contract, I’m just trying to keep a level head

I would consult a legal person to see what you can do but you can reach out to her and restate the contract terms and ask for an exact date you will have the items and if you do not receive them by that day you may need to escalate the issue.

I would text or email her (to have it in writing,) and say "Our contract stated that we would receive our photos within 8 weeks, which was *insert date.* If we do not have them by *insert deadline,* we will be forced to seek legal action."

I have to say, especially during Covid and so many wedding cancellations, that there is no excuse for vendors to not giving 100% for weddings that are pushing forward. You are their bread and butter during this time. I would definitely be persistent.
