Wedding Photography Anxieties...

Cassandra, on October 11, 2020 at 1:53 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 17
Does anyone else have photo anxiety? I was at my moms memorial (she passed at the end of April but we had to put off the memorial due to Covid) and my cousin was taking pictures with a pretty highend camera. I feel like I look so much bigger in those photos than I look in the mirror or on pictures on my phone and now I'm worried that I'm going to look larger in my photo's than I feel like I am 😳. Or is it my imagination?Wedding Photography Anxieties... 1

Have you lost weight, this past year? Sometimes your sense of what you look like, to others, does not match what is in your head, for quite a while.

It's not just about the camera, the lighting, angle and person taking the picture are all factors. Think about celebrities and paparazzi photos. They use high-end cameras, but often (almost always) take unflattering photos. . Be sure to find a photographer who suits your needs. You can even practice your angles in the mirror so that you are prepared for the camera on the day. This is why you see people on the red carpet tilting their heads and bodies in different ways; to get to best angles. You are going to look fantastic.

It's about paying. In your white dress you look amazing. Professionals will know what to do for posing. Plus at a sad event none of us will look good. You look good.

Many of us view ourselves to look better in the mirror versus a photograph. I feel the same way about myself. I have major photo anxiety. My FH and I got pictures taken and out of 185 pictures, I only liked 10 of them because I thought I looked homely in most of them. As a result, we will most likely not get professional pics taken when we marry/exchange vows.

Your cousin’s camera may be high end, but there was no editing done on that camera and I can tell there was no posing either to give you a more flattering angle. Your professional photographer will edit and will make sure you’re standing at better angles for any poses photos. For the candid during the service, one thing I’ve read about is not completely resting our arms down by our side. Kinda like when we sit our legs look 10x wider, our arms are being spread out and look wider.

You are beautiful in both photos and I love your dress!!

I have lost weight but it's been holding steady for about 8 months. Also these pictures were taken only days apart and only about 2 weeks ago.

I'm just happy I'm not alone... I was always tiny (to tiny) growing up and the biggest part og my adult life so the photo in black doesn't even look like me. At least not to me 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Thank you! And I'm sure you are right. This dress is actually just a cheap one I got for a small wedding at the end of this month. We had to postpone our larger wedding till May. This is the "big" wedding dressWedding Photography Anxieties... 3

Don’t let one photo get you down! That’s an unflattering pose/angle for any person! A good photographer will help you with posing, but don’t be shy about practicing some poses in the mirror at home now until the big day. In the other photos you posted you are standing tall and confident. As my photographer said, imagine there’s a string running through you and someone is pulling it up at the top of your head. Stand up straight, roll your shoulders back and down and think of happy things and you will glow! 🤩

Both of them are gorgeous, but I totally hear you. I’m super proud of the deal I got on my dress as well. I definitely feel good when I can score a great deal.

It's all about the posing and camera angle. Your family member was not trying to make you look and feel your best, they just wanted family photos. A professional wedding photographer knows how to make a bride look and feel her best and will use certain poses and angles to highlight their best features.
