Wedding Photos and Videography

Keyera, on October 12, 2020 at 12:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
How many of you brides had a videographer at your wedding? For those of you who didn’t do you wish you would have hired one? Also, what is a pretty decent price for a videographer/photographer?

I am choosing not to have a videographer and I'm confident that I won't regret it. I dislike the wedding videos today. They are very film tailer like. The videos from 30 plus years ago are a lot more authentic. I also hate the way I look on camera.

I had two videographers (husband & wife team) and two photographers (husband & wife team). They were not through the same company. It was important to me to have a videographer because I wanted something to watch back from our wedding day. We plan on watching it every anniversary. The day goes by so fast that it is hard to remember exactly everything that happened. As for price, it really depends on the location. For example, we got married in a very touristy town, but the photographer I hired was from out of town so her pricing was way cheaper than it would've been had I hired someone in the town we got married in. However, I picker her before I even realized this because she was the photographer for a friend of mine's wedding. I also picked a videographer who was a neighboring town so his pricing was also lower than all of the other videographers that were in the town we got married in.

We had a videographer and have absolutely no regrets. Price will depend on the package and your area. Our videographer was $1250 for 10 hours of coverage, a second shooter, a 1 hour-ish documentary edit, and a 10 minute social media teaser. We got married in 2019, but booked in 2018, so we got 2018 prices. The same package with our videographer is now $3k for 2021.

To stay within your budget you may have to consider hiring a non professional or hiring a professional just for 1 hour to cut down costs.

I had one and I actually watch the video a lot more compared to looking at my photos

My fiance and I originally did not hire a videographer, though now that we postponed our wedding, we are considering hiring one for our new wedding date. I don't think we'd regret it if we ended up not having one, but I think it'd be something that's nice to have.

We had videographers and I am SO glad we did! I absolutely love our wedding videos. They are probably my favorite thing we took away from the wedding (besides being married, obviously). We watching our videos all of the time.

Something to keep in mind is your wedding day will fly by! A lot of your ceremony will be a blur. So having the videos to look back in for many years to come will be very special.

Our videographer (husband wife team) was $3500 (and worth every penny) and our photographer (husband wife team) was $2000.

We did not have a videographer and we have no regrets. Budget was not the issue--we simply didn't feel the need to have one. Instead, our DOC placed a go-pro for our ceremony and recorded the speeches and first dances as well. We spent exactly $5000 on our photography package, which included 10 hours of coverage + a second shooter, a 30-page wedding album, and a 1-hour engagement photo session.

We did! However, price is going to vary by location.

Admittedly, we paid next to nothing, because my coworker at the time was an up-and-coming-filmmaker. She offered to do our wedding for $1000, because she wanted to try her hand at wedding videography. I must stress that is a VERY low price for our area - and she killed it. She edited a whole 5 minute video highlight reel for us in *5* days, and then took a harddrive from us and gave us *every last bit of footage she had*. Seriously, I went into work later that week and just hugged her super hard.

So, if price is a concern, I recommend asking your local college if they have any film students who want to earn some extra money.

We didn’t hire one (too expensive and we were already over budget). We missed it for a while but now are ok. We had two photographers—absolutely recommend!
