Wedding Pizzas

Emilee, on January 14, 2018 at 10:01 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 29
Me and my fiancé are pizza connoisseurs. It just makes since for us to have a late night pizza reception. I was just seeing if any one else has done this. We’are going to have other pastas and salads as well. I’m just worried about keeping the pizzas warm. Any tips for keeping it fresh? Also I love the idea of build your own pizzas but I wanted to see how others went about cooking them quickly. Unfortunately I don’t live close enough to any cities where I could get a food truck or have super amazing pizzas so I’m trying to work with what I got.

Is your wedding super casual? This makes a very casual dinner for your guests. Ask your venue about bringing outside food , many won’t allow it. If you are set on serving pizza, then do it with your venue, that way they worry about freshness/hotness of the food. Besides, diy-ing this could be a good poisoning nightmare. The venue are professionals, let them worry about food service.

What do you mean by a "late night pizza reception"? What is your timeline?

We had custom pizzettes on our menu as well as tacos. It was fabulous. I can send you the flavors if you'd like, people are still raving about them.

I'll be honest, this is tacky. Your reception really isn't for you. The only point of a reception is to thank guests for coming to your wedding. I doubt most of your guests will be thrilled with pizza at a wedding reception.

I once went to a vineyard wedding that had wood-fired pizzas since the vineyard had this huge impressive outdoor oven. It wasn't tacky...but the pizza also wasn't very good. I think they were rushing getting everything done (and the wedding was only like...65 people) so everyone could eat and mine was undercooked.

I think it's a great late night snack option if it's after dinner though!

    Ask your caterer.

Honestly, there’s probably no way to do this well and keep the pizzas fresh and hot unless you can get a pizza food truck or have the reception in a restaurant. We’re having mini pizzas as an appetizer during cocktail hour - maybe you could do that and have something else as the main entree?

If you're just ordering from a pizza place, it's going to get cold and greasy pretty quickly. What was your plan?

When you ask a question, you get honest answers, even when it's YOUR wedding.

I love pizza, but the biggest problem to me isn't it being tacky, but that it gets cold fast. I'm not saying I won't eat cold pizza, but it's not ideal. The only way I would do this is if someone were making pizzas on the spot - like at a venue where they had a brick oven- and there were interesting combinations to choose from. But, if you really want to do it, you should talk to whoever is providing the pizzas and see what they have to work with. Seems like you would have to have a mobile oven or at least heaters.

I will have to disagree woth those that say its tacky. For me it is not. FH and I recently attended a wedding where they brought pizzas around midnight and everyone loved them. They did bring a food truck, so I am unsure how you should go about it. Maybe see if there are any caterers around the area that can provide the service.

I’m confused. It seems from your post that you’re not wanting to have pizzas for guests at the end of the night after your normal dinner reception. This is a late reception made of pizzas? This seems odd to me.

I think this is way harsh. It isn’t tacky. It’s casual. Two very different concepts. I’d much rather be at a pizza party having a good time than a stuffy reception eating cavier. Don’t listen to this poster.

Late-night pizza is entirely different from it being the main entree. You're talking about thanking guests who've taken time out of their lives to celebrate with you and likely brought you an expensive present/cash and you're feeding them pizza. That's something I feed a friend who helped me move.

Stephanie, that's fine that you disagree because so far this morning, I think I've disagreed with every post you've made. No biggie.

I think I'm not understanding where the pizza is coming from. Is a caterer making it? If so, it's their job to worry about keeping it hot. I don't necessarily think it's tacky to serve pizza depending on how it's done. If it's a pizza made by a caterer with other options and sides, that's great. If there are just boxes of pizza sitting on the table getting cold and greasy, I can see why people would think it's tacky.

I'd much rather have pizza instead of a lot of the food I've had at weddings I've atteneded. Pizza is delicious. How far are you from a city? I know that a lot of those food trucks will travel a good distance, you just have to pay gas. Also, talk to a caterer. I'm sure you can find one that does pizza.

Also, for all those people making you feel bad here, ignore them. It's your wedding and do what feels right do you. They aren't gonna be at your wedding. If your guests get their panties in a twist, they weren't really worth it anyway. If someone feels like you owe them "fancy" food since they bought you a belnder or something, that's their problem not yours.

I don't think it's tacky. But as others have said, check with your caterer. They should be able to answer this for you.

I went to wedding that had pizza as the entree. It was cold and soggy by the time we got too it. We all went out to dinner after it was over because we were starving and most of the guests were pretty annoyed, since most of the wedding guests were at the same restaurant, we heard a lot of annoyed comments.

    please rethink this.

also, what is a pizza connessiour?
