Wedding Planner Book: Helpful or a waste?

Taylor, on June 24, 2017 at 8:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

I have thought about buying a wedding planner book to keep all my notes and stuff in to keep me straight.

Have any of you used them in the past or currently used them? What are your thoughts on them? Worth the money? Dislikes? Or favorite thing about them? Any type to steer clear of? I.e. Calendar or no calendar.

Or did you end up never needing it or ignored it?

I used a notebook and wrote out dates, was able to write out to do lists and had a page for vendors (what was paid and unpaid, etc). That thing has been my bible but depends how you work. Some people benefit from calendars but was not for me since I already had a calendar for school, was too many dates at once!! I legit never leave the house without it, has pockets for reciepts and checks just in case!

I ended up never using mine. I created an excel workbook with about a dozen spreadsheets and it's the best thing ever. I'm sorry I spent money on the binder.

I love my wedding planning binder. I also have a notebook I use too. I looked at a lot of different ones until I found the one I have now.

I created my own.. I'm insanely organized, and it's easier for me to create my own planner than to find one I liked. But I have found it immensely helpful. I also use excel for guest list, and budgets... also a separate email address for everything wedding related.. like i said, I'm crazy organized.

Oddly enough when I was taking classes on wedding planning years ago (I wanted to be a wedding planner and have my own business), I used this same method, my professor was impressed with my organizational skills, lol.

I use mine all the time, but I always prefer pen and paper planners to online.

I didn't get that exactly but did get the wedding planning calendar from may designs. I love their notebooks anyway (good purse size) and have found the structure flexible

I bought one that was geared towards 'simple weddings' because I went into knowing we were having a small wedding.

I carry mine everywhere I go.

I love the budget keeper and the guest list tracker and the vendor information. I don't think it was a waste at all for me because I use it all the time.

However, if you know you will most likely forget it or not use it very much or if you don't have the money for one that will meet your needs (like if you are having a large wedding with a lot of detail), then I think getting a note book or creating something in excel or one note will work just as much.

I bought one by Karen Bussen that met my needs.

I made a binder myself with tabs etc, but mostly work online through excel spreadsheets.

I received one as a gift right after we were engaged. It's still sitting on my dresser in the plastic. I picked up a white notebook from the corner store and have used that and a small planner for everything. I was more looking for something to take a million notes on. I plan to use the wedding planner as a keep sake. I'll put all my final decisions in there after the wedding and ditch the scratch paper.

I use mine often. I'm glad I have it because it's where I keep all of my receipts, payments, vendor info, due dates, appointments, etc. I got mine at a craft store with a 50% off coupon so it was pretty inexpensive.

For me, using the checklist on here and then just keeping up with my regular planner was pretty helpful! And cheaper! You can tweak the checklist on here to add, delete, or edit items. Keep a planner in your purse that's a decent, comfortable size and just make notes throughout. Nine times out of 10, you'll usually have your purse and/or phone with you for whenever a new idea pops up. I also did like some of the other girls and used Excel, especially for the guest list and invites. Some wedding planning books are up in the $30-$40 range. With the other costs of the wedding, this is where I chose to cut! Just my opinion! Good luck!

I'm using a Happy Planner that I personalized with their folders/calendars/pages. I love that I can move pages around as needed!
