Wedding planner includes fee to not use photos??

Kara, on April 8, 2022 at 10:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
I’m looking over my contract for my wedding planner and found that she said she charges $2,000 to NOT post any photos from our wedding OR to get prior approval. I don’t really care but am finding it a little strange. Is this normal?

That seems odd to me! First, that fee seems super high, and second, I'm not sure why there's a fee for that? If this is a wedding planner that you plan on booking, I would ask for that line to be removed from the contract if you don't want your photos to be posted.

I've also never heard of such a thing and the fee is crazy high. Even photographers won't charge you or make a fuss if you don't let them post the photos, which is their own work

For a planner? Definitely not normal. I've heard of this for photographers plenty of times but never for a planner

I've of this as at first to get a planner but I got mad how dare they tell you not to post your wedding. And why not ?? I dont like the fact that she has put the hefty price on you to share your day not hers.

Definitely not normal. I assume its because she sees it as lost marketing/potential booking opportunities. I dont find it to be that terrible, though; maybe just make a prior arrangement that she can't post any photos until after you already have.

It's not strange if your planner is really popular or even just the area maybe? Every planner I met with with had this fee as well as the photographers. The fee is like Carissa said for lost marketing by adding your photos to their portfolio. If they can't use your photos to attract future clients it makes it harder for their business.

I have not heard something like that. That amount seems high to me. I would talk to your wedding planner about that.

I would have that line removed or move on to another planner, if you don't want her to post whatever photos she wants - I will say that our photographer didn't give photos to anyone except us, so I don't know how she would get ahold of photos?

Our coordinator had a line in the contract saying we allowed her to post photos of our wedding. If you don't mind your planner posting pictures of your wedding then I'd just ask her to remove the line from the contract. The price does seem pretty high, but I would imagine that a lot of their marketing and advertising is being able to showcase their work.

Hm. It is in a lot of my vendors contracts that they reserve the right to use photos from the wedding for marketing purposes. $2000 seems like a lot though!!
